1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / custom hoodie help on: March 18, 2008 07:38:07 PM

i have had somebody commission this hoodie from me.

i figured that the body and sleeves are a basic zip hoodie with ribbed cuffs, which i can probably handle.  instead of a zipper, i will extend the front half a bit and put toggle buttons.

the pockets can be fake.  i dont have patience for pockets.

what i need help with is the hood!  does anybody know of a similar pattern for a hood.  like that?  any advice? (close up picture!)

if anybody can find me a similar fabric, i have been looking all over!  it seems like its a heavy twill, but it needs to be a similar stripe.  any fabric sites that i could check?

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Four Lantern Bags! on: December 11, 2007 04:38:20 PM
Any way, these are made from a pattern called the Lantern Bag by four winds patterns.  I can provide a link to where to buy it if anybody is interested.  The name comes from the pleats in Paper Lanterns.

Each bag took me probably about three hours.  I am pretty happy with how they turned out.  They are fully lined.  The outer gusset is interfaced with Pellon fusible fleece which is BY FAR the most pleasant interfacing to work with for bags.  The rest is interfaced with Fuse-A-Shade, which I would not recommend for bags, but for some reason I bought 12 yards at a discount just before I quit my job at a fabric store.

Taking pictures of things you make is so great when you actually take the time to set it up!  Feedback?
6  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / 31 Pound Turkey Head Craft on: December 07, 2007 02:31:55 PM

I printed this turkey head out off the computer, then printed out a reflection.  Cut it out, mounted each picture to a side of a popsicle stick.  Stuck it in the turkey.

Not really a craft, but I do consider myself quite clever.
7  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Eco-Friendly Heifer Giftwrap on: December 07, 2007 02:20:31 PM
I made these as a donation to the Heifer Craft sale that our school does.  The money is going to buy an  ark for somebody, which is a male and female of like 6 or 7 animals.  I wish we were buying them the Knitting Basket.

Anyway, they will probably sell for $1-$4 a piece.  They are "reusable gift wrap bags."

20 Bags

All just from scraps from other projects.

I made three sizes, this is the largest and it has a typical hardback book in it.  The smallest would hold a deck of cards.
8  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / resin teeth impression necklace on: November 09, 2007 02:00:49 PM
i made the mold using dental alginate, then i poured it filled with resin.  i also fabricated the chain myself using silver coated copper wire.

i am not sure about the big links on each side of the necklace, but overall i am really happy with it.

sorry about the cruddy isight picture, i am just eager to take advantage of all the features on my new macbook pro.  <3
