7181  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Melted Record Bowl and Bound Album Cover Book on: September 04, 2008 05:41:32 PM
Well, I know it's been done a million times, but this was my first attempt, and I'm tickled with how well it came out. I needed a quick birthday present for my musician sister-in-law for our family get-together tomorrow night. So, a stop at the local thrift store to nab a few albums, a quick check of a tutorial and the rest is history.

In a fantastic fluke, the bowl melted into a triangular shape with very well formed "ripples." The second photo shows the bowl a bit better. And then, I took the cover and used my Bind-It-All (which I've had since Christmas but finally had a chance to try recently- so much fun!!), and trimmed a bunch of graph paper (I hadn't intended to trim the paper, but I goofed with the BIA and had to trim the covers down a bit).

So, here is the lovely "Hooked on Classics" gift set!

Yay!

Oooh! You just gave me an idea for my sister's Christmas gift! She makes pottery, so she can make a set out of stoneware, but I can make her a DIY kit with: a small set of alphabet stamps so she can stamp her own plant names, a template to cut out the shape of the marker, some seeds, and a gift certificate to a local nursery. Then, I can pack it in a flower pot! It'll be the perfect complement to the 5-gallon bucket garden caddy she's also getting.

Thanks so much for posting this- you've totally inspired me! Cheesy

Wow! I really like the colors of shirts that you used! And, I like the 2-color effect on the light blue bird shirt. Very nicely done!

Thanks, yellowduckie! Now, when I get to it, it should make more sense. You rock!

taz- fantastic job on the undies! Love the skeleton hands and the RHPS lips! And, the days of the week in her native language are just brilliant! Now, I want to make a set with the days in French... not that it's my native language, but I took 6 years of it and French undies would be funny!

Great job!

Those crocheted fridge magnets are very cute! And, I received today from aspatria! She made me a magnetic bookmark for the cookbook of recipes from this swap! She did an amazing job with the embroidery- her stitches are so neat!

Thanks so much aspatria! I'd say your first swap was a success Wink

I've only read one book so far (the Anna Pigeon book), but I loved it! I'll be getting to the others as soon as the back-to-school madness goes away... if it ever does Wink

I'll probably get started this weekend...

I'm trying to catch up. I have now done first 4 squares and 2 fillers.

And you'll probably get caught up before me. Wink Can't wait to see your squares- if they are as lovely as last year's set, I will be jealous!
