These are both so neat! I've seen solid ones before, but I've never seen one that's been hollowed out. Fantastic! Was it very difficult to figure out where to put the cuts to hold it all together?

If I had to move out of New England, the Pacific Northwest would be where I'd want to go (even though it's Sasquatch country Wink ). I have loved every trip I've taken out there (mostly the Seattle area and Olympia National Park... and a teeny bit of Oregon)!

I just realized that the 13th is Columbus day which means no post office fun for the day.  I will extend the deadline then to the 14th.

Whew! Now I don't have to worry about being late Wink

And, thanks again, myklia!
7034  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12" Crochet Square of the Month Craftalong - SEPTEMBER (final month) on: October 08, 2008 03:19:32 PM
Yep! I'm taking my crochet stuff with me this weekend- I have August and September to get caught up on! Then, I'll be working around the months again Wink

It's funny... I think I have officially passed from beginner to intermediate as a crocheter. I signed up for a beginner crochet class just to pick up some tips, and I realized how much I can do already Wink So, I think I might be up for the challenge of the "experienced" squares Wink

Glad you're still keeping tabs on me Wink

I know I love just going into the woods colsing my eyes and breathing in the air. I like to trail wack and find a spot away from every one because I almost feel transformed by the wods, and the amazing sounds they contain.

That's how I feel, too! It's very calming. Do you know how, as a relaxation technique, you're supposed to picture yourself at the beach, listening to the waves? Well, that just makes me imagine myself sunburned and sand-covered with the potential for drowning thrown in! My favorite calming scene is trees covered with snow... and after that, mountains covered in trees, or a scene that is just trees...

And, I saw a Nova special called "The Methuselah Tree" and it mentioned the bit about the guy cutting it down to find out how old it was. Can you imagine how awful it must have felt to realize that you had just cut down the oldest living thing known? And, even though older ones have been found since, I know I would have wanted to throw up if I had done it...

Fantastic koala picture! And, that banyan tree made the museum worth the price of admission for me Wink It's an amazing tree to begin with, and then to see such a big one is even cooler!

And, I just sent a PM about co-organizing... unless someone else beat me to it, or is really itching to do it...

I'm going to start working on my list of tree crafts, too! Yay!

Okay, I've been mostly avoiding the swap board, but you kind of sucked me in with your lovely tree photos!

I just sent in my questionnaire, and I'm glad I signed up late, because now I don't have to wait long for partners Wink

I think I am going to make a set of jewelry out of some beaded beads (make sense?) that remind me of winter.  They are a really pretty pearl white and pearly blue.  Would anyone be interested in that?

Me, me!  Wink
7039  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 50+ Wash Cloths-along on: October 05, 2008 08:02:15 PM
Yeah, I just kind of went with it and did official decreases two stitches in on each side every 4th row until I got the white.  I just kind of played by ear.  Any other "decreases" are "natural decreases". Wink

Well, if it's one thing I can do, it's make "natural decreases" Wink  I might chart it out and see how it goes...

For those not in dishcloth swap, I posted my crochet cloth in the completed projects because I love it.

And it is worthy of love! It's so cute! Did you make up the pattern yourself? I may have to pick up some orange and yellow cotton yarn tomorrow...
