7011  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Undies Swap - My Fave Themes .:CLOSED:. on: November 02, 2008 06:15:37 PM
I picked up all of the supplies for one set, but I still need to find something for the other set, or I'll have to change my idea... which I can do, but I need to think about what to change it to...
7012  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Shepherd's Pie in a Pumpkin on: November 02, 2008 06:04:42 PM

While shopping for a pumpkin in order to roast the seeds, I started chatting with the gal at the farm stand. She told me that they had 2 kinds of pumpkins and that one was better for seeds and one was better for pies... or making shepherd's pie. Well, I couldn't let that get by me, so I asked her how...

Get a medium-sized pumpkin and cut off the top (cut a wide opening). Scoop out the seeds and scrape out all of the stringy bits with a strong metal spoon. Sprinkle in some brown sugar (I rubbed it around on the inside, and also sprinkled in a little cinnamon and nutmeg). Then, layer in your shepherd's pie ingredients. I cooked up some ground beef with onion (took about 1/2 to 3/4 pound), put in some frozen corn with a few dots of butter, then added in the frozen carrot/pea mix (which I never usually put in shepherd's pie... but I was leaving out the potatoes, so I needed something). I added a few more dots of butter and a sprinkle of salt and pepper. Then, I wrapped the lid in foil, and placed it on top. I put the whole pumpkin in a glass dish (I used a pie plate, but a metal cookie sheet with edges would work just as well), and baked it (make sure it fits in the oven... you may have to adjust the shelves) at 350 degrees until the pumpkin was cooked (it took about 2 hours). When serving, scoop out some of the pumpkin along with everything else. Delicious!!

I think the only thing I might change is to put in a small can of creamed corn (we never used it when I was a kid, it was always just frozen corn), to make it a bit "saucier." Although, when the pumpkin got a bit mashed in, it didn't really need it!

Now, I'm thinking I'd like to try a pumpkin stuffed with some ground turkey and cranberries, topped with a bit of stuffing... I'll have to get another pumpkin (and some stuffing)!

7013  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Granny Daughters Swap Gallery on: November 02, 2008 05:52:57 PM
Here are my Granny's Daughters from my wonderful angel, Linda P! She sent a few extra, too! And, she also sent me a mini-dishcloth for cleaning in small places (like inside cups, and stuff) and an angel to carry in my pocket (but she's going in my car, instead Wink ).

Thanks myklia for getting me such an awesome angel!

Oh, man! So many awesome things! I love them all (although that polar bear scarf is extra fantastic, and I don't even wear scarves... but I'd so wear that one).

My item is mostly done- I still need to weave in the ends and stiffen the snowflakes (they look much better that way... see my earlier picture). They are all the same (because it's the only pattern I know how to make Tongue ). And, after seeing all of the awesomeness here, I may be tucking in something else, too...

I would be more than happy to send WW and get sport/baby in return - but don't want to increase your work load oh fearless leader, er, um, uh craftADDchick...  Wink

LOL! No worries! That actually makes it easier for me to match people up Smiley  And, I just made a note in my file... so it's all good!
7016  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ NOV on: November 02, 2008 05:09:37 PM
Thanks for the choices on the November square! Once I get myself caught up, I'll decide which one to do. Or, maybe once I see the ones that everyone else makes, then I'll decide Wink But, Supernova is calling out to me...

Early on December is fine with me. Since I'm so far behind, it won't make much difference Grin

I can't wait to see all of the afghans that everyone finishes!! Thanks so much HorsePower for putting this all together!

Whew! Today was a crazy day (started with a hot air balloon at school this morning!), and then super busy after that.  As myklia mentioned (and thanks for being so quick!), worsted acrylic is what should be swapped, and colors don't matter- although they should all be different.

If you wanted to add in some additional things, that'd be fine (and I can try to match some folks up Wink ).
7018  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: .:Undies Swap ~ Fave Themes:. on: October 30, 2008 04:02:38 PM
Those are such cute sets of undies! Not only do I love to see all of the different themes, I love seeing all of the techniques used...

This weekend, a trip to Joanns will hopefully provide me with what I need...

Okay, I almost just sent a PM to say that I had to bow out, but after looking again at all of the awesome stuff up for grabs, I just can't do it! So, as soon as my dinner comes out of the oven, and I get to eat it, I'll be crafting away!

Wow! I didn't know you could make center pull balls like that. I'll have to dig out my Happy Hooker book, too Wink

And, thanks for posting a teaser pic. I was thinking the same thing! I'll probably post another one in a bit. I do hope more folks sign up... I posted notices in the other rounds, hoping folks would join us!

And, I've updated the questionnaires (Linda P, you did ask for 3, so you're all set!) so they should be ready when partners get assigned...
