6771  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Granny's Daughters Swap Round 2- Signups Jan. 3-24, 2009; Sendouts Feb 21, 2009 on: January 12, 2009 02:50:54 PM
I'm so glad that everyone is making progress! And for those who haven't started yet (or who are planning to join), there is still plenty of time! For some reason, I have a feeling that I'll be weaving in ends as I fly home from FL on my Feb. vacation. I even bought plastic yarn needles today , just in case...

Started.  Cheesy
Also, I don't know if I mentioned it in my questionnaire, but my kitty sitting snoring right in front of me just reminded me. I have two kitties who LOVE to help, so please don't set me up with anyone with severe cat/dander allergies. Thanks.

Yup! You mentioned it, but thanks for making sure Wink

craftADDchick:

Thanks!  I haven't decided yet...maybe green.  It will depend on the future square patterns, whether or not I'll want to add a third color.

When will you post yours?

Oooh... green would look nice! And, my square is the first one posted- I tried it before I posted the pattern to make sure there weren't any pattern glitches. It's here: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=284599.msg3227939#msg3227939
6773  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Little Odd Ball Yarn Swap R3 Gallery on: January 11, 2009 07:24:37 PM
Wow, Linda P, you got some fantastic colors and some very cool variegateds! I just found some Red Heart Ocean in my stash (in a very small quantity) and I love it. I'm appreciating the variegateds more and more. But, it's like a tease to get a little sample and then not be able to find it at the local craft stores. I did order some online, but now I want to get some of the Ocean! I'll have to keep my eyes peeled...

I have a few variegateds too... but I don't know where they came from! I'm also pulling from a stash of yarn that was donated to my classroom a couple of years ago...

And, here's a picture of the pile of Granny's Daughters!

And, I just finished dividing them up into 3 piles: one for each of my partners and one for me! I'll start weaving ends in later this week!

I've finished 120! Well, except for the weaving in of the ends. But, I did the last 15 by crocheting over the end, and well, I wish I'd tried it over a 100 granny's daughters ago...

Gorgeous squares, Zeenobia! I love how you alternated the colors on the 2 squares. It's going to look great when you put them all together. Will you be adding in other colors to the mix?
6777  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2009 12" Squares- January on: January 11, 2009 09:26:38 AM
Maybe you could ask for one skein of blue yarn for your birthday (or a belated Christmas gift). Just as an accent color. You will probably use the whole thing, so it won't add to your stash. And, you'll be using up yarns from your stash for the rest of the project...

That's what I was thinking, too. But, I hadn't thought to put the pages in different directions. It's a brilliant idea, because I won't have to obsess over making sure everything lines up if I try to put them in the same direction! I will have some delayed-by-an-ice-storm Christmas gifts to wrap up, and I think I'll be giving this a try. Thanks so much for such an awesome, yet simple, idea!

When looking at the entries for this challenge, I was looking for ideas that I could easily replicate. This is the one for me!

Thrifty- free phone books (I get at least 2 delivered a year from different places).

And...

Stylish- the amazing bow from the colored section and the addition of the colored felt really looks sharp against the black and white of the wrapping.

I also love how it isn't holiday specific!

Now, if I can figure out a decent way to connect pages together to make large sheets, I can use it for even more gifts! Or, I'll just have to give small-sized gifts Wink

Fantastic set, murbeck! I like the addition of the handle on the drawstring pouch.
