1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday 2/1/08 on: February 01, 2008 04:25:38 PM
Everyone's yarns are so beautiful this week!!!!!

I've got just one that's actually quite old, but it was part of a package for someone and didn't want to spoil it before.

It's 4oz Corriedale Cross spun into about 100ish yards.

I'm calling it "Riding the Ponies." It reminds me of a carousel because of the really vibrant colors, but that just seemed too boring...

And I am the lucky one to have received it.  I LOVE IT!!!!!!!  SmileySmileySmiley

Yeah, I love FF!!  Everything looks awesome so far.  I especially love Blue Planet, Raspberry Latte and Igloo.  But all of them ROCK!!!!   Shocked

Here is my one lonely contribution this week.  I really need to find more spinning time.  Smiley

Taste the Rainbow--122 yards of handspun, plied with a varigated cotton crochet thread in pastel rainbow colors like the yarn.  Made from the October Batts from Traveling Rhino's Club.  Contains BFL, Superwash Merino, Domestic and Targhee Wools with Nylon & Angelina sparklies.

I love how this one came out!  It will stripe with wide non-repeating stripes!

I got my amazing package from TAOJ today!!!!!!!!  Thank you so very much, it rocks!!!!!

An amazing handmade sock sack with some hand-dyed wool yarn!  The sack is so great, perfect for knitting on the go, with a grommet on the top to lead the yarn through.  I LOVE THE FABRIC!!!!!  So awesome!

And an awesome matching needle roll!!!!!!  It is so nicely made, I love the stitching on it.  I will be the envy of everyone at my SnB meeting next week for sure.

Thank you so much TAOJ for angeling for me!!!  It was so worth the wait!!

I am late in posting, but here is my latest.  Smiley

Flamingo Bay--252 yards, 65% merino, 15% Colonial, 20% tencel blend from Copperpot on Etsy.  Fingering weight.

Everyone's yarns are fantastic, I especially love Earth & Sky and Drama.
5  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: A sort of poll....Do you pre-draft your fiber? on: January 27, 2008 08:17:03 AM
I almot always predraft.  The only time I don't is if it is silk or something like that, but then I usually spin from the fold.  If I don't predraft it gets too uneven and chunky for me.

8  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fiber of the Month Clubs on: January 17, 2008 09:35:07 AM
I am part of Traveling Rhino's Deluxe Fiber of the Month Club--http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=1641  It includes: 3+ ozs handcarded batts, 2+ ozs coordinated handpainted roving, and extra add-ins! each month. the super sundae size is the art yarn spinner's ideal pick-- more than enough fiber for one HUGE skein of funky yarn each month.  Totally awesome, but I don't think she is accepting anymore for the Deluxe, but her others ones are open.

Also HollyEQQ's Batt of the Month Club  http://hollyeqq.com/page8.html---sadly that one is closed for now too, but it ROCKS and I love it.

And I am in Funky Carolina's FOTM club---http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=76181

And a new one I just joined, still waiting for my first month is Artclub's Cucukoo for Cuckobatts Club---http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8540258

I would also LOVE to join Hobbledehoy's Batt Club, but I cannot justify anymore right now.  http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=8694986

Everything is fantastic as usual.  I haven't been here in a while and haven't done much spinning, but here are my two latest!!

Circus Parade---144 yards of dk to worsted weight Corriedale, handspun.  From 2oz of roving from the Traveling Rhinos October deluxe monthly club, Rainbow Connections.

Freak Show---68 yards and 4.2 whopping oz of crazy handspun goodness. A huge and chunky yarn!  There is wool, bamboo, mohair and tons of bling and glitz.  This was spun from an awesome "oh hell" batt from the talented HollyEQQ!

Freak Show was totally outside of my usual box and a really fun spin!  Smiley
