31  Re: Fall/Winter Scarf Swap Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by HelenM on: October 26, 2007 01:53:09 PM
Somewhat belatedly, here are the photos of my not one, but two scarves:

They are both lovely long skinny scarves. Sadly the photos don't do the colours justice, especially on the gorgeous turquoise scarf. I'd try photos in the daylight but we have to head out early tomorrow - we're going on holiday. And as it's in the UK (Northumberland) I can wear my scarves  Grin

And here are the accessories. First up, my brooch - a permanent fixture on my coat:

I probably should have taken it off for the purposes of photography, but it goes so well on the black.

And finally, my lovely crocheted beaded bracelet:

Thanks so much ZaftigMomma  Cheesy

At long last, here's what I received from LizzieMcGuire:

What I got when I emptied the box!

Close-up of some of the lovely fimo stitch markers and the amazing hand-carved yarn stamp.

And finally my ubercool dice magnets (it was these that Lizzie scoured Germany for  Wink

35  Ipod Nano 3g Case in Knitting: Completed Projects by HelenM on: September 17, 2007 01:50:50 PM
So I got a shiny new Ipod Nano this weekend, but they're so new there isn't a case for them yet. I had a skein of Debbie Bliss Pure Silk that I bought because it was soft and a pretty colour, and, it turns out, a perfect colour match for my new Ipod!

I made a simple rectangle and folded it over and made a flap.
It was very simple to make. Here's how:

CO 15 stitches with 4mm needles
Rows 1-3- knit
Ro2 4-24: Knit in stockinette stitch starting with a purl row
Row 25: K2, yo, k2tog, k to end [this makes a hole for the ear phones to plug in]
Row 26-52: Knit in stockinette stitch starting with a purl row
Row 53: k2, k2tog, k to last 4, ssk, k2
Row 54: p2, p2tog, p to last f, ssp, p2
Row 55: As row 53
Row 56: As row 54

If I made it again I would a few extra rows before row 53 to make a longer flap.

I'd be grateful for any comments  Cheesy

I have received from Esmerelda & KittyVegas!

Esmerelda sent me two lovely sewn ornaments, Santa & a turquoise (blue in some lights, greenish in others!) tree, which is my favourite:

KittyVegas sent me one of her amazing jigsaw wreaths & an owl (which I will have to hide on Thursday when a friend visits - he has a random owl phobia to the extent he won't watch Harry Potter  Shocked)

My photos don't do the owl justice!

Thanks ladies!  Cheesy

Here is the necklace I sent Carnabystreet (apologies if my images are gigantic):

And a close-up:

I'm glad she liked it  Cheesy

Everyone's OTTs look fantastic. I love the idea of having Ms Buttonholic to hide fancy buttons in (I love buttons!) and the resin pendant looks gorgeous. I could go on about everyone else's amazing things but this would turn into a long and rambly post!

Edited to add photos!

I have received a fantastic apron and some beautiful dishcloths from Minanina! I will do my very best to get photos up later but I'm out all day today. But this dishcloths look to be a very similar pattern to those that Librarylass received from Auntiem! Great minds an all that  Grin

Ok, photos. Here's the apron:

It's the perfect length as Minanina sensibly asked me how tall I am, and as I'm only 5'3" that's brilliant - most aprons come down way past my knees!

And the lovely dishcloths (which my husband said we'd have to save for 'best', which presumably means we'll use them to wash up after Christmas and dinner parties  Tongue)

Thanks Minanina!

I have received from dragonflyducky. And now I have swap anxiety. She sent me not one but two ornaments. One is what I'm going to call a polar sheep (I thought it was a sheep till my husband pointed out it was more likely to be a polar bear  Embarrassed). It's amazing and I presume it's felted but I am in awe over how it has been made.

She also sent me the most amazing yarn ball ornament. I love it.

Thanks Dragonflyducky!

Yay, I'm first  Cheesy I received from carnabystreet yesterday. It's a lovely handmade notebook with a felt cover.

She hasn't fixed the notebook in so that the cover can be reused. However, I'm eyeing it up as a needle case for my knitting darning needles. The one I have came from a school fete from my primary school over (eek!) 20 years ago  Grin

Thanks carnabystreet!
