21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My Anthropologie knockoff hat on: October 28, 2007 06:06:50 PM
I am very excited to have finally come up with my own pattern.  I found this hat the other day and loved it but not the price.  So after many pages of notes and frogging, this is what I came up with.

I used Bernat Alpaca Natural Blends in cream and brown.  Next time I think I would make the hat a little longer (it is really short in the back) and use a lighter color for the top of the hat.  With the brown color, the cables just don't show up well.

I love it.  I've been wanting to make one myself.  Very nice.

I really like the VS version:

What is VS? Never mind.  I just figured it out.  Victoria's Secret.
24  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Hoodie on: October 05, 2007 08:25:43 PM
My sister just had her second baby last month and she kept hinting about this hoodie so I had to make it for her.  I found the pattern in Special Knits by Debbie Bliss.  It was a simple, easy to follow pattern and easier to sew together than I expected.  I made the 3-6 month size.  My 10 month old daughter is modeling and it is a little too big on her.  The gauge is pretty accurate, the baby is just tiny for her age.

25  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Blanket on: September 30, 2007 10:29:22 AM
It's been a long time since I've finished a project and posted it.  I had my doubts many times while working on this blanket, but after blocking (which I've never done before and am in love with!) and adding the fabric, I'm very happy with the way it turned out.  I found the pattern in Alterknits by Leigh Radford.  The only modification I would make next time would be to pick up and add all the borders.  It makes a cleaner edge and it's easier to attach the fabric.

I have been very spoiled lately with all sorts of fantastic packages showing up in my mailbox.  So, finally, here are my packages I've gotten:

From PatriaE some Gryffindor yarn.  I'm going to make HP bookmarks and I can't wait.

From riario a got a cute girly sock monkey kit.  My daughter is going to love these.

And from danceisthenewmosh I received an awesome magic yarn ball.  It was actually more like a magic yarn box.  Stuff just seemed to keep coming out!

Thank you so much ladies.  I love these packages and I can't wait to start using them.  I'm going to be very busy for the next couple months.  Thanks again.

I have gotten some amazing packages lately and have not been very good about posting.  So, here are my July wishlist packages.

From andrethecat a HUGE box of sock yarn.  I was expecting a couple skeins, hopefully enough to make a pair of socks and then I opened the box and saw there was enough yarn to much 6 or 7 pairs of sock!  Thanks andrethecat.

I got some fabulous handspun yarn from goldfish girl.  I don't know what I'm going to make with it yet but I keep looking at it and thinking how pretty it is.  She also included some yummy soap.  Thanks goldfishgirl.

And from doe_eyes i received an amazing bag.  I already have it filled with stuff.  It is the perfect size.  She also sent a sock monkey kit and some bath salts that smell so good.  Thanks doe_eyes.
