1  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Black Sesame Ice Cream on: March 18, 2008 09:19:17 PM
I think Red Bean ice cream would be the closest comparison as far as sweetness and texture.  When I was blending the ingredients, I thought it smelled like the little sesame candies I would sometimes get as a treat when I was a kid.

The desert is from the cookbook "Secrets from a Healthy Asian Kitchen" by Ying Chang Compestine.  Unfortunately, since it's not my own recipe, I don't know if I can share it here.   Undecided  I tried to find a similar recipe on the internet but they all use milk and eggs.  (I haven't felt brave enough yet to try egg based ice creams!)
2  COOKING / Dessert / Black Sesame Ice Cream on: March 17, 2008 04:29:18 PM
Shortly before we began dating, my husband visited Japan.  One of the things he came back raving about was black sesame ice cream.  I was determined that someday I would make black sesame ice cream.  Four years later, I've finally gotten around to it!

Personally I prefer sweeter desserts but DH seemed to think it was pretty good.  I do think it looks cool.  And it's lactose free!  (Sorry for the blurry pic, had to snap quick before he dug in!)
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Ninja Scarf on: March 17, 2008 04:14:17 PM
I made this super wide scarf for DH.  This is my first knitting project.  Only took me 2 years!

He's been alternating calling it the monster sized scarf or being a "scarf ninja".  I had wanted to make it a bit longer but I decided to finish it off at 2 skeins of yarn.  It's big enough to be a wrap on me!
4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: I need help...BAD on: December 10, 2007 01:05:35 PM
About him.
Hes really into games (guitar hero,Gears of war)
Comic books(made him a spider man pillow he has blankets)
Tv shows (hes really into angel right now)
Music(but only in the car and stuff like that)
Sleeps....TO MUCH..
Lives at home but is barely ever there(always working or by me)
We have a thing about Those bug cars..We always look for them and play that game slug bug..So i would like to do something cute like that...

It's probably a bit ambitious this close to Christmas, but how about a Gears of War cross stitch like this one: http://kotaku.com/gaming/gears-of-war/gears-of-war-the-cross-stitch-214102.php

Rhettsmommy, I'm happy you like my programs enough to consider doing it for yourself!  I think the turquoise would really pop with the brown!

Thekster, that clasp is lovely!

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Re: The Crafty Wedding Craftalong! on: May 28, 2007 01:22:59 PM
Hello all!  I'm happy to join in on the wedding craftalong!

My wedding is on August 18, 2007.  It's coming up so quick!   Shocked

I am hoping to make the following:
Save the Date Postcards
Invitations
Thank You Cards - bought at store
Wedding Programs
Ring Bearer Pillow - Decided against ring bearer
Wedding Website - Didn't happen
Centerpieces - ended up just getting a florist (must easier than the stress from having my mom do it)
Placecards
Table Numbers
Favors
Guest basket for bathrooms (mints, shout wipes, pins, etc.)

My mom wants to make our bouquets and buttoners but I feel the need to be involved in that process (especially since we don't always agree on what I like  Tongue)

I've been having the wedding dreams as well.  Last night I dreamt that it was the day of the wedding and we didn't have a bunch of things.  I was able to laugh it off until I realized we didn't have our marriage license!   Undecided

Edit 8/6/07 - I ended up having to let go of wanting to make lots of things for the wedding.  The time constraints of working full time were just too much.  On the flip side, I'm much more relaxed for having let things go.  Smiley  Pictures of what I did get to will appear soon!
