31  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Handmade Bird Swap, Sweat Shoppe Style! -- SEND OUT 4/30 on: April 07, 2009 12:52:50 PM
As the organizer, I don't mind! It was mostly to keep shipping costs, etc low Smiley

There is no set medium for these birds. Smiley

They don't even have to be 3D!

The only requirements are:
-bird
-the size should be "palm" sized (4"x6" ish)

Happy swapping!

Please try to send, if you haven't, by Friday?

Hope you all are well!

This is another board I came in here to request  Grin

I think it would work quite well together with this request https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=39868.0 for a metalsmithing board.

Wood and metalwork sounds like a school class  Cheesy

Old post. Good idea!

Woodworking is my craft of choice.  I've been after this idea for nearly two years.  I was told to sit down and shut up because "it ain't never gonna happen".  They claim that there are not enough woodcrafters on Craftster.  Look around, and you'll see lots of them.  They are all scattered in the miscellaneous board.

If you want to see what I've made in wood, look in the miscellaneous board, or go look in my profile.  There's lots.

If you want to further this cause, every time you see something made from wood, add a woodworking tag to it.  I think it's the only way it will ever get the attention of the powers that be.

Thats a very good idea!

I second this! I've just started doing more woodcrafts and I love it!

Thanks everyone!  The pleats were fun to make  Wink.  I based the pattern on a bag in dragonmama's wists.  The original had more pockets and suck.  It's basically a big fat U shape, and the top sides are pleated, giving it the finished shape.  The lining is done the same way.  I should've taken progress photos - I'm not so great at explaining  Tongue.
Glad you like it!

Like it? No way, I seriously LOOOVE IT! Cheesy Truthfully, I do a little happy dance each time I use it because I heart it so. Thank you soooo much!

Firstly, I'd like to apologize for taking so long to post these pictures! I actually received last week but someone must have stolen my brain because I've been so out of it!

aeronberry and I decided to make project bags for each other. so this was what she termed an 'urban hiking crochet bag'. I just call it 'the best damned bag I've ever owned!' within minutes of opening the package, I was transitioning my old purse to this one.

IIIII LOOOOOVEEEEE IIIIIT!!!!

It's so so so so so so so me! Honestly, this is probably one of the best things I've ever received in a swap and it will certainly get A LOT of use. Cheesy

Here's a close up of the cuuuute lining:

The amaaaaing pleating (my favorite part):

The great embroidered bird!:

And my full purse lol

She also sent me a fantabulous circular needle holder Cheesy

And I haven't sent her bag yet... I've been such a poor swapper lately. Sad I will be sending it Saturday, though, I hope.

Thank you again! And what a great idea for a swap ^_^

I got this amazing bookmaking package from EowynUlysses the other day and it's so perfect!

Here's the whole shebang!

Lots of tools of the trade:

Including a paper cutter, which I've wanted for some time!

But the most beautiful paper is what really got me *swoon* It's all so me! And I especially love that so much of it is repurposed (like the old maps!)

She also made two books to show different binding techniques but I forgot to take pictures. Sad

Thanks so much! This swap has been wonderful, I hope there is another round. Smiley
