21  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / is my stupid mistake fixable with blocking? on: October 27, 2006 04:06:17 PM
hey everyone.  i just had a total homer "doh!" moment.  i'm knitting a double knit scarf as a present and i was wondering why every other row was coming out with a different tension.  so i realized that i was using one size four needle and one size seven.  DOH!  it's only the first eight rows and it's only noticeable on one side.   i'm using silk of the andes (knitpicks) and i'm wondering if y'all think this will be even less noticeable after blocking?  i really really don't want to frog it.  what do you think?
22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / jess hutch's bunny (and my cat) on: October 21, 2006 12:08:14 PM
here's my first bunny of what will probably be many, considering the reactions of my friends while i was making it...  the eyes are kind of wonky 'cause i had to embroider them and i don't know how to embroider...  it's for a baby, so no button eyes for this bunny.  also, my cat looking guilty and playing pony.  thanks for looking!
23  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / first fo post! (img heavy) on: October 08, 2006 11:12:17 PM
so, here are two baby sweaters i've finished recently.  the purple one i just finished.  it's swing thing off of magknits.com.  the other is an older sweater i knit for the same darling little girl from a pattern that i can't remember.  horray for my first fo post!

this one is a close up of the yoke details. i couldn't figure out how to make monkey fist buttons, so i had to buy plastic ones.

here's a pic of the lucky lady modeling her new coat.

and here's the one i made for her when she was first born.  it was too big then, and now she's growing out of it!  they grow so fast!

thanks for looking!
24  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / how long do your knitpicks orders usually take? on: September 22, 2006 10:27:48 AM
i'm soooo frustrated!  i ordered some yarn from knitpicks on the 11th and it's still not here!  argh!  there was no mention of backordering, so i assume it's just on a slow boat from china or something.  how long does it usually take for you all to get yarn from them?  this is my first time ordering from them, and if it always takes this long, i'll have to start planning further in advance!
25  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / pattern for a knit hat with brim? on: September 15, 2006 02:40:58 PM
hey all! i've been looking for a pattern for a hat similar to this for over a year (on and off).  it looks pretty simple, just some straight-up ribbing sewn to a circle of ribbing.  how would i do the brim, though?  i've never experimented with anything like this...  anyone ever worked a pattern similar to this?

26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / introductions and a dumb question on: September 13, 2006 10:17:33 AM
hi all!  i've been lurking for a while, admiring all of your wonderful craftiness.  i'm a decent knitter (i'll have to post some of my fo's as soon as i take some pics), but one thing has always mystified me... what the heck *is* a raglan sweater anyway.  i tried googling a definition, but apparently this is knowledge that i'm supposed to inherently know...  is it a sweater without much shaping?  is it a sweater with a yoke?  i even browsed the entire knitting faq on this site, and couldn't satisfy my curiosity...   Huh
