1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / My Neighbor Tototo and friends (Perler beads) on: June 26, 2012 12:52:35 PM
In lieu of cleaning I made these perler bead Totoro things for my 3 yo friend Ruth. She seem to dig them a lot.
I freestyled the patterns.

I might do a version of them waiting for the bus as well...
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / The Dude abides on: October 10, 2010 04:48:36 AM
I really (REALLY) should be studying for an exam right now, so of course I'm doing everything but that. Like making a portrait of The Dude from The Big Lebowski in Perler beads.

Well, let's hope my teacher is a movie buff. Smiley
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Star Wars No advertising sign (Hama beads) on: September 17, 2010 05:59:04 AM
I made this for my door to spruce it up a bit. Also, do not want advertising in the mail.

At first I thougt I could just copy the already pixelated characters from http://www.flipflopflyin.com/minipops, but most of them didn't look good in plastic bead version so I changed them up a bit. In the end I only used the original Luke and Han solo (gave him a gun though, cause how else is he gonna shoot Greedo?).

The speech balloon says "Nope to advertising" in swedish. I might make a speech balloon for Chewie as well saying something like "RAWOOAAAOOWW".

So, damn the foolish mail man who dares bring me advertising from now on. He's gonna be choked with mere brain power!
4  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Morrissey (The Smiths) wall art on: August 19, 2010 08:19:26 AM
This is a long, looooooong overdue Christmas gift for my sister's boyfriend. He loves Morrissey so I thought I'd make him some wall art with one of those peppy and upbeat quotes The Smiths are so famous for. Wink
I chose "Is it wrong to not always be glad?" from Sheila takes a bow (which turned out to be his favourite song, so yay for that).

I was unsure to post it here or in the stencilling forum as I made the picture like I'd ordinary make a stencil, but as it was bigger than usual I borrowed a projector from work and traced the picture and letters in pencil before filling it in with paint.

Though, my first attempt at making it was a total disaster as I used some god awful acrylic paint which dried in an instant and made it impossible to paint neat edges. Disponded I didn't finish it and ignored it for a god while (yeah, Christmas). Today I finally took to some super cheap hobby paint and painted over the first layer and it turned out OK. Not perfect as sometimes it was impossible to fill in color over the acrylic paint without distorting the letters too much, but I'm pleased with it. I hope he'll like it too.

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Back of couch to royal headboard on: August 14, 2010 12:56:39 PM
I found the back to a uh, rococo-ish (?) sofa at a flea market and decided to make it my new headboard
Upholstered it with black fabric and silvery trim to go with the wallpaper. As I didn't know how the outcome would be I went for the cheap and easy route. Cheap fabric stapled directly on the back and used a glue gun for the trim. There were two small holes where the back hade been attached to the sofa and with tho huge screws the worked perfectly to mount the new headborad directly on the wall.

I'm so pleased with it!!

Here's a before:
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Yoda poster on: June 20, 2010 08:09:27 AM
I'm in a Star Wars mode right now and made this poster for a friend.

Am working on a matching Leia and Han Solo set also for a married couple and might even throw in a Chewbacca one too just for fun ("Raaaarrrrr! Raaaaouuouo! Auouoooo"). Smiley

Thanks for looking!
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Tiny balcony - now ready for summer on: May 24, 2010 10:09:39 AM
Last week I pimped my balcony since summer finally arrived and I can get some actual use from it and not as extra storage/beer cooler space.

I put in the wooden plates on the floor and covered the ugly fence with a reed "mat" found in a gardening store.

The finished result:

I looked everywhere for a bench with storage (to keep planters, dirt and, well, softd rinks and beer), but no no avail. So I made one myself from this:

I think the box itself is from my grandpa and the shelf is an old IKEA storage thing I disassembled and put back with the boards closer together. Then there was a lot of polishing, oiling and painting before it was suddenly done and fitted perfectly. The pillows I found in storage at our country house. Yay for free things!
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Easter / Easter wreath on: March 16, 2010 12:30:11 PM
I found these super cheap feathers and chickens and made a Easter wreath out of it.

I'm not sure if it's kitchy enough, so I might add a yellow ribbon bow at the bottom. And I wanted the Caesar-ish kinda wreath, but the "ends" ended up a wee bit to close. If I do another I'll probably make the feathers go a full circle.
9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / The owls are not what they seem on: May 04, 2008 12:27:16 PM
I made a matching daddy tee/baby onsie set for a friend. He's turning 29 and becoming a dad just a few days apart. He's also a HUGE Twin peaks fan so I found this very appropriate.

10  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Who killed Laura Palmer? on: February 28, 2007 03:01:55 PM
I made this tee for a friend. Am not fully pleased with it though.
It came out way diffrent from how it looked in my head.
He liked it though, and I guess that's what counts...
