1  More freeform amigurumi in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by delfina on: May 31, 2012 02:52:51 PM
Just grab a hook and some different colored threads and go! Smiley The results are sometimes unpredictable (at least they are for me), but that's part of the fun. There is no assembly: they're all made out of one piece of crochet. These are made with cotton thread, so they're fairly small (the tallest is about 5 inches, I think).

2  Freeform amigurumi in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by delfina on: May 19, 2012 11:25:29 AM
I make these up as I go along, so the outcome is not always what I might have wished for, but these are a few of my favorites. I made them in the last few days. They are crocheted all in one piece rather than sewn together.

3  Embroidered mini pillows in Needlework: Completed Projects by delfina on: September 13, 2010 07:39:01 PM
These are some mini pillows I've done recently. I don't have the patience for large items so I stick to small stuff. It's hard to tell from he photos, but the biggest one is 8 inches across. There are no patterns because I make them up as I go, but I think it's easy to tell how they were made.
Sad face: (6 inches)

Swirls and four little faces: (6 inches)

Swirl and star: (8 inches)

Sad butterfly: (5 inches)

Thanks for looking. Smiley

4  Embroidered dolls in Needlework: Completed Projects by delfina on: February 14, 2010 07:21:23 AM
I've been on a kick of making some flat dolls. They're flat (they're kind of like cookies... Cheesy) because otherwise it's too hard (for me anyway) to make them come out without too many puckers. I draw a silhouette and then stitch away, whatever comes to mind. The backs are just plain. Small ones are about four inches tall, bigger ones 7 to 8 inches.

5  Mini-Pillows and Critters in Needlework: Completed Projects by delfina on: September 17, 2009 04:33:54 AM
These are all very small. The biggest one is about six inches wide. I make them up as I go along, and I'm reluctant to re-do anything, so the results are kind of hit-or-miss. I think the first one is my favorite.

This one is about five inches wide:

This is about 5 1/2 inches. The center is crocheted and the outside tendrils are embroidered. The bottom photo is of the back, which is a printed fabric.

This was meant to be "free-form" but I think it just looks kind of lopsided. It's about 6 inches wide.

These are about 4 inches tall:

6  Freeform amigurumi critters in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by delfina on: February 05, 2009 08:36:19 AM
I'm not good at following patterns or instructions, so I just start crocheting and make it up as I go. These are some of the critters and dolls I've made recently:

More photos:

I use a 2.5 mm hook and DMC craft thread and embroidery floss. All the parts are crocheted together. The only sewing is on the eyes and mouths (and I added some french knots to the dog).

There is no pattern for any of them but I have been working out a tutorial of sorts and I can post it if anyone is interested. It's fairly general because I don't count the stitches, so I'm not sure how useful it will be.

7  Still life paintings, getting back into painting in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by delfina on: November 08, 2008 06:06:22 AM
I went to art school years ago, but it's been a while since I've done any paintings. I recently started getting back into it. I didn't really do traditional paintings back then (at art school that was sort of frowned on), but it's something I've always liked. I painted these in the last few weeks. They're painted from life. The size is 8 by 10 inches, except the glass bowl one, which is 9 by 12 inches.

8  Re: Night butterflies book (in progress) in Needlework: Completed Projects by delfina on: September 17, 2008 04:03:35 PM
^It does take me ages...  Smiley The putting it together is the least fun part I think. I'm not very good at being neat and getting everything to look sort of finished.

I made another panel. Not sure where it's going... Smiley (Hopefully the marks from the hoop will become less noticeable over time.)

Thanks for all your comments.

9  Night butterflies book (in progress)(more added) in Needlework: Completed Projects by delfina on: September 08, 2008 02:29:30 PM

I want to make this into a cloth book, kind of like a little fairy tale. These are the first two panels. I was hoping that the butterflies would look sort of ghostly and spooky, but I'm not sure if it works. In the second panel, I think only the curtains and butterfly came out well; I don't think my sewing is accurate enough to do straight lines. Feedback would be appreciated.

10  Crocheted center and embroidered swirls mini-pillow in Needlework: Completed Projects by delfina on: September 08, 2008 02:16:06 PM

This is small, about 8 inches across. The center is crocheted and then sewn on, the rest is embroidered. I didn't follow a pattern, I make up the design as I go.

The second photo is of the unfinished project because it shows the sides better. I'm not sure if the fabric with the little birdies was a good choice, it may be too distracting since the whole thing is pretty gaudy. The back is the same green satiny fabric (which doesn't photograph very well).
