1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re-Launching Website on: April 23, 2009 06:12:06 AM
Hello, all!  I'm looking for some website advice.  I've just made some pretty big changes and have added a shopping cart feature (I was just using Paypal buttons before).  I got a lot of help this time, but I'd still love some input from someone other than the two of us!

It's not live yet, so you'll have to go here:

Of course, it'll eventually (today hopefully) be http://www.BitsyCreations.com like it has been in the past.  There are a few little kinks that I know about (like my photos on the front that don't link anywhere) that I'll fix shortly.

I'd just like to get some general opinions on the overall ease, etc.
Specifically, though, I need your opinions on the product photos.  All of my greeting cards and invitations are digital--Would you prefer seeing the digital file (like in my announcements section) or a photo of the actual printed item like in my greeting card section?

Thank you, thank you!!!
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / I need some advertising help... on: September 22, 2008 12:36:13 PM
All right, I need some advertising help!
A little background--I'm a graphic designer and most of my time goes into creating for OTHER people, so when it comes time to create for myself, I run into issues frequently!!!
I've been putting together a promotional postcard and I'm just not sure if it's getting my point across.

Clearly I'm going for simple & to the point, but what do you think?
I'd love some input just in general, but specifically--I'm wondering is three examples enough?  Does this get my point across that they're customizable for any holiday?  (Oh, and if this is perfect as is, which do you prefer?)

And thanks!!  Grin

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Envelope Templates? on: January 09, 2008 10:36:11 AM
Does anyone have a good template for making your own envelopes?  I'm looking specifically for the legal size--Should be pretty simple to find, but I haven't had any luck! Sad
4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Doing your own taxes on: January 01, 2008 11:36:08 AM
If you do your own taxes, do you use something online like Turbo Tax, etc.?  Just curious what you all use for small businesses and if you've found it helpful or confusing for your self employment needs. Smiley

5  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Screen Printing: Discussion and Questions / Not sure what to do... on: June 14, 2007 01:02:48 PM
Thought I'd ask some experts as I have NO idea what to do.  Smiley

I do some graphic design and I'd really like to put some of my designs on clothes--specifically tees for toddlers, etc.

I am REALLY unhappy with iron-on quality and definitely don't want to do that.

So, my question is... do I go all out and learn how to silk screen myself??

Or do I find someone who knows how and do a little group project??

Or send my design somewhere like cafepress and have them do the work?

Thoughts??  I'd love some input.  Smiley
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Licensing... on: June 06, 2007 05:01:24 AM
I've been under the impression that I DO NOT need to be licensed for what I'm doing (selling online, an occasional craft show).  I've been looking to start carrying some supplies, though, and was referred to a company where I could get good wholesale prices, but they have a notification that they will ONLY sell to licensed businesses.  Does that just mean I don't qualify at all??
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Scrapbooking: Discussion and Questions / Bulk paper orders? on: June 05, 2007 04:50:38 PM

I've been playing with the idea of selling some paper crafting supplies... I often have people ask me if I could include this, that, or the other thing with their orders, but I don't know where to purchase in the first place.

Anyone know of say, a scrapbook paper company that I can buy in bulk for lower prices??
8  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Advertising question... on: May 14, 2007 10:28:38 AM
Hello all!  I'll just start out by saying my "business" is really low-key right now.  It's not my main effort, but I absolutely adore what I do and enjoy crafting and selling any chance I can get.

That being said... I've simply been advertising wherever I can for free.  One of my friends heads the advertising for many of the local radio stations and she keeps telling me I can advertise with her, etc. but it's $100 a month... which just isn't plausible for me.  Her point is that it will bring in more sales, so I should just take the leap.

Any input on this?  Do you pay to advertise?  If so, where?  Has it been helpful?  Worth it?
9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Some of my latest cards on: April 15, 2007 03:56:17 PM
I've just been reading lately--haven't posted for awhile, so I thought I'd show some of my latest cards! Wink

I don't think I've mentioned here before that I just got so sick of never finding stamps/clipart, etc. that wasn't *quite* right, so I've been teaching myself graphics! Smiley  Yipee!  So these are some cards I've done with graphics I created using Adobe Illustrator.

10  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / My Holiday Cards on: December 01, 2006 04:31:50 PM
One of my friends saw some of my cards in my shop on Etsy and asked me to make her cards this year!  I was so thrilled because usually my friends think I'm too busy with other people's projects to do theirs!!  But I LOVE to do things for my friends (well, anyone who lets me craft really! ha!).  Anyway, I'm absolutely THRILLED with the outcome.

They're just normal greeting card size (5x7) and I made the "belt" out of vellum & hand stitched the snowflakes on the cover.  The beads are loose so they do move a bit, which is fun!! Smiley  The inside middle is blank because I'm going to put photocorners in so she can put their family photo in once they get it!

These are the ones my friend saw & we kind of worked from there.

What do you think?  I love them so much I think I'm going to make these same ones to be from us this year, too!
