1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re: Re-Launching Website on: April 24, 2009 04:21:23 AM
Thank you, thank you, thank you!  This is just what I needed--I really appreciate your input.  I've been trying to get a better layout for the product pages--I've thought it's just too confusing to tell what information goes with which product photo.   I'm trying to get the info. directly under the photo AND smaller.  I think that will help.

Thank you again for your suggestions!  They're fantastic!
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Re-Launching Website on: April 23, 2009 06:12:06 AM
Hello, all!  I'm looking for some website advice.  I've just made some pretty big changes and have added a shopping cart feature (I was just using Paypal buttons before).  I got a lot of help this time, but I'd still love some input from someone other than the two of us!

It's not live yet, so you'll have to go here:

Of course, it'll eventually (today hopefully) be http://www.BitsyCreations.com like it has been in the past.  There are a few little kinks that I know about (like my photos on the front that don't link anywhere) that I'll fix shortly.

I'd just like to get some general opinions on the overall ease, etc.
Specifically, though, I need your opinions on the product photos.  All of my greeting cards and invitations are digital--Would you prefer seeing the digital file (like in my announcements section) or a photo of the actual printed item like in my greeting card section?

Thank you, thank you!!!

I've received a lot of jewelry in padded mailers--they've always been just fine! Wink
If you're worried, you could try adding an extra layer of bubble wrap.

Depending on what type of artwork I'm printing, I just get the plain, but heavy Xerox card stock that you can get at OfficeMax or the like.

But here are some of my favorite sites!
Clearbags for cello bags & clear boxes--they do have a small order fee, though, so if you ever want a small order, you can send me a message--I'm usually ordering something and together we can get a large order & avoid the fee:  http://clearbags.com/

I LOVE Mr. French.  A bit pricier, but totally worth it for the quality and color selection--I LOVE their envelopes:  http://www.mrfrench.com/Index.asp

JAMPaper has some really great recycled options in a variety of prices--also great quality:  http://www.jampaper.com

Hope that helps! Smiley

Thanks, Feast Your Eyes!
Excellent points...
I keep going back & forth about having ONLY my main website or putting my Etsy site(s), too.  I just have a lot of regular customers who are so used to Etsy.
Truth be told, I'd LOVE to avoid those fees!!

Thanks so much for being my fresh eyes! Smiley  I think my husband's sick of doing that job!  lol

Thanks, CraftyChef!  I see your point, but this would be specifically for the "holiday season", so by whatever I'm meaning Christmas, Hanukkah, etc.
So I'll only be handing these out until Christmas-time.
What do you think now?  Good?  Still change it?

All right, I need some advertising help!
A little background--I'm a graphic designer and most of my time goes into creating for OTHER people, so when it comes time to create for myself, I run into issues frequently!!!
I've been putting together a promotional postcard and I'm just not sure if it's getting my point across.

Clearly I'm going for simple & to the point, but what do you think?
I'd love some input just in general, but specifically--I'm wondering is three examples enough?  Does this get my point across that they're customizable for any holiday?  (Oh, and if this is perfect as is, which do you prefer?)

And thanks!!  Grin

Hello!!  Good luck with your shop! Smiley  You can be under 18, but need a parent's "supervision" if you are--I believe that's what they call it. Smiley

As for paypal, you can have a regular account.  The problem you *may* run in to is that some people's accounts are connected to credit cards rather than their bank accounts and the basic paypal account only lets you accept money from people with accounts connected to the bank... at least, that's how it was when I signed up.  So don't quote me on it!!  I'm sure someone else will know for sure.

Thank you so much!  I really appreciate it.

Hey, let me know if you need help with your logo--I'm happy to just see what you have and help with some pointers if I can.  You probably saw, but I've seen LOTS of logos. Wink
