1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Nice flamingos, luv! on: September 27, 2007 02:23:59 AM
Hey everyone!
First, a confession, I love bright, bold funky fat quarters, but yet do not have the heart to slice them up. So I bought a $2 boxer short pattern and made some boxers. Comfiest boxers, ever.

Flamingos on the back, cats on the front. I even had excess fabric (by the time I hacked the waist down to size).

The only thing I'd do differently would be to raise the waistline about 10cms, but thats it.

2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Magazine / national pride swap on: August 09, 2007 03:10:12 AM
I had an epiphany while reading a cooking magazine today. The thought was along the lines of 'every country has magazines unique to that country, so as sort of traveller's swap, but in magazine form. It could be up to the swap partner's choice as to what, but at the very minimum, a local craft magazine and a small crafted item (or even just local yarn). Cheap, cheerful and ever so fun.

Whaddya think?

4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Earring holder - el cheapo style on: May 23, 2007 02:07:22 AM
Okay I needed an earring holder, and being the scrooge I am figured I could use some plastic canvas and a photo frame from a $2 shop. Unfortunately I couldn't find some tacks to nail said canvas in with, so I did the next best thing and decorated the canvas on.

It works a treat! my hoop earring have a little bit of trouble but the rest are good!

opinions appreciated!

Hey everyone, I've been stalking my regular online craft stores and for the life of me cannot find plastic canvas? Does anyone know where I can get some? I want to make something cool for my sis's birthday  (still a few months away!)

Thanks in advance!

7  CITY GUIDES FOR CRAFTSTERS / AUSTRALIA / Worsted weight cotton in Queensland? on: September 09, 2006 04:07:43 PM
hey everyone, I have been looking through pattern books and magazines galore, and in true knitter/crocheter style I have found a gazillion patterns that I would love to make. Anyway, I live on the gold coast, where the only craft shops are kmart and spotlight (they got rid of the lincraft... god only knows why).

my question is, does anyone know a reliable source of worsted weight cotton? or cotton blends of some description? I have been dying to make 'seaberry shell' from interweave knits summer edition (2006), would be willing to swap for even just a skein of some so I can make SOMETHING I can wear in summer.

your feedback would be much appreciated.

p.s. swap wise, I have some recycled silk and some really rough hemp that might be tradeable. pm if interested.
