61  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Mother-in-law has cancer - what can I do? on: September 15, 2006 07:14:19 PM
i would just like to say my prayers and thoughts are with you. im a licensed hairstlyist and i worked with the cancer society in a program called LOOK GOOD FEEL BETTER. it is one of the best programs i think they have out there. it shows people how they can still be beautiful and have cancer. If you think about it when you are in your sweat suit and just relaxing for the day how beautiful do you feel but when you get dressed and put on makeup you feel better same concept. it also shows them different wig options as well as turban options, shows you how to put on makeup to conceal no brows or eyelashes. positive reinforcements is always a blessings
sorry i kind of got off your question
there are patterns out there for turbans, my suggestions would be for when at home a relaxing terry turban, when going out a wrap turban is really nice she can do it a different wrap each day. they have longer straps to twist tie in a bow wear forward backwards. you could also make her a sleeping mask to take out some of that light when she wants to sleep during the day. i wouldnt do too many things with lots of smells. ive heard from alot of cancer patients that the smells make them naucious(or however you spell that )
hope i helped
bless your family

why dont you make her something that is soothing after a long and abusive day of angry and frustrated people she should pampered at home. everyone loves baths and bath products.
make her some bath salts, using dreft (baby detergent), epson salt, coloring , and scent that you think she would like. i put mine in a mason jar and put fabric on lid with a bow and attach a pleasant note of thanks. you could also put that in with some other things that she might use in the bath or anything to relax. hope that helps

65  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Re: Curly hair question! on: September 07, 2006 07:19:09 PM
well im am a licensed hairsylist who has given up the trade to stay home with my children. still do hair on the side but anyways, i also have naturally curly hair which i say i have naturally frizzy hair. It takes a lot more effort than someone with straight hair.first use a volumizing shampoo for the oil on scalp appy a really good mosturizing conditioner for (dry, damaged hair) even though your hair is not dry or damaged it provides the most moisture. but here is the trick only apply it to the ends of your hair and not at the scalp helping to alleviate the oily scalp. your scalp isnt what needs the conditioning its the ends.
The best way to keep curls intake is not to blow dry it at all. This is the trick that i find works the best for my hair. i wash it at night let it air dry with nothing in my hair. the next morning i get up and wet it with a water bottle till its damp but not dripping wet. apply mousse. put my hair in a round clip with prongs. ( circular headband that goes all the way around head.) take pieces of hair here and there and pin it up. until it looks cute nothing hanging down. and hairspray. for a while you will have a wet look. until it dries and you can take it down but until then you can still go out and do some errands
i usually wait until that night to take it down and then im good to go for the next day but that is up to you. i dont have a oil problem so you might have to take it down in the afternoon and wear it curly then. hope this helps
