I made this alphabet book as a gift for a 1st birthday
The front and back covers are crochet. I tried to give each page a different style/technique and each letter a different colour, as well as a variety of textures

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Save yourself some time and frustration ... on: November 14, 2006 09:14:41 PM
Not sure if this has been done before...

While I was making handles for tote bags yesterday I thought there must be an easier way to turn the handles inside out. I figured out a way and thought I should share it.

I made a little contraption. Its a piece of yarn (about 1m or 1yard long) tied to a safety pin.
Then all you do is pin the safety pin to one end of the tube and thread the yarn through the handle to the other end (a yarn needle helps hear). Now you just pull the yarn till the handle magically turns inside out. So easy!

This might not work well with very delicate fabrics, but it should be fine for most.

You can also use this technique when making scrunchies.

5  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Amigurumi style Christmas Gnome on: October 15, 2006 04:21:52 PM
Presenting... A Christmas Gnome - my first try at amigurumi - inspired by all the wonderful crocheters on these boards

In my hand

Close up

His body is 4 ply cotton in a beige colour and his hat is a soft unknown yarn in red. I embroidered his eyes and hat, I had trouble trying to put in a mouth (my embroidery skills are lacking), so I left that off.
He is stuffed with polyester fiber-fill and his hat and head are sewn together with embroidery thread
The green thread off the top of the hat is to hang him from the Christmas tree.

I'd love to hear your comments

I made these today. I made some beginners mistakes but I won't point them out!

I've entered the wallet into the wallet challenge

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Girls White Striped Handbag / Purse on: September 08, 2006 01:19:22 AM
Just thought I'd show everyone this purse/handbag I crocheted.
I made it up as I went along and crocheted most of it on a very long drive.
I think it probably suits a young girl, what do you think?

p.s. the flower is removable since i sewed it onto a safety pin.
