1  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Pocket Letter Swap 1 (SU Apr 28-May 6 ; SO June 6) on: June 08, 2016 03:21:19 PM
I sent out my letters today! Which meant that I got to open my letter from DearBluebird. It's beautiful and I can't stop looking at it! The light's all kinds of weird tonight (is it going to rain? is it going to be sunny??), but I'll get pictures tomorrow right when I get home from work. I can't wait to show you!!

Those of you who have already sent out, how did you manage to get tracking on your package? I might be able to get my letters in those long envelopes (I...don't have a ton of bulky extras...) but the USPS won't track an envelope like that. How big are your packages?

I'm about 95% finished with both pocket letters, and on track to send them out on time. I'm sorry I haven't checked in in a long, long time. I have no excuse, really: mostly I got busy at work during the week, spent the weekends crafting so I didn't fall too far behind, but then when I realized I hadn't checked in in such a long time, my weird guilt kept me from coming back and finally pointing it out.

My communication in this swap (and the ongoing ATC swap, for that matter) has been garbage, but I have no intentions of simply not sending out. Sad

Hope everyone's doing well!

I got my package from zigg13pra! It was full of the most adorable things, right down to the tissue paper she used to wrap things. I'm still walking on air!

Here's a teaser of sorts: I can't get any really good photos that do this package justice. This necklace!

I've basically wanted one of these for a while now, but never enough to convince myself to actually buy a locket and the charms. But now I have one! And this beautiful Craftsterer could not have picked better charms if she knew me in person. I know it's a terrible cell phone photo, but there's a strawberry (I have strawberry plants that I've grown from seed and kept alive for almost three years now), a sunshine of course, a "you are my sunshine" charm (that goes perfectly with the theme, but also that song means so much to me), a pretty multicolor flower, and a sailboat. I love it so much. I'm wearing it to work tomorrow! I'll coordinate my outfit to match if I have to. Smiley

Thank you, zigg13pra! I love everything so so much. <3

Oops! I haven't checked in this week, have I?

I've spent the weekend working on one of my partners' letters! I'm just about done. It turned out to be a lot more work than I thought it would be, but I'm also really happy with how it's turning out. I'm definitely glad for the long crafting time, I'll tell you that!

Exciting news! I'm a certified teacher and I even work in a high school, but I'm not an official contract teacher with my own classroom yet. On Tuesday of this past week, the principal came into "my" classroom (it's really another contract teacher's classroom but I'm one of two certified-teacher-assistants in the room to assist with running a remedial reading program) and asked me to come to her office with her. It turned out that one of the English teachers had to go over to another school to fill in for a principal while he's out, and they wanted me to take over her classroom for the rest of the year! This is big news! Generally at this school, long-term substitute teachers are really just considered babysitters, BUT there's a very slim chance that the principal position will become permanent for the teacher who took it. If that happens, this school's history would suggest that it's possible administration will just ask me if I want to keep this classroom, no interview or test-run necessary.

I'm so close to becoming a "real" teacher and I can't wait. The only problem with this new position is that it severely cuts into my Craftster and crafting time. (In my old position I had a LOT of downtime, which is why I was online so often.) So now I'm pretty much limited to evenings and weekends, much of which will likely be spent recovering from having a real job.

I don't foresee any issues with completing this swap on time (though if any issues should arise, you can bet I'll let everyone know immediately): I just wanted to explain my sudden lack of presence around here on the off-chance that someone had noticed. Smiley

Claiming MunLtStmper for Zentangles! I kind of have a way to do something experimental (for me, anyway) with that as well! Smiley

I live in Michigan! I don't really have any strict preferences in terms of what I do or don't want to receive. I trust just about everyone on Craftster to have a pretty good idea of whether something is appropriate to send someone. Blood, gore, and nudity don't bother me at all, unless they're all combined into one card: not into the implications of a gory nudity card. The only thing I wouldn't really appreciate would be, like, a Bible verse scrawled in Sharpie on a blank white card or something: if you've put any effort at all into the card, I know I'm going to love it.

My themes:
Superheroes (especially Hawkeye [Barton or Bishop or both!], Supergirl, Deadpool [does he count as a hero??], Ms. Marvel)
Loki (the Marvel villain or the Norse god)
Moveable/Foldable/3D in some way (even if that means a piece of origami glued to the card)
Illustrate your favorite fairy tale
Supernatural creatures
Untranslatable words (illustrate one or just write up the definition all fancy-like)
Van Gogh
Outer Space
Magic (your interpretation is more than welcome!)
Powerful Women (I think I'd like to eventually display them all in some kind of art piece in my classroom)
Pagan Wheel of the Year
An ATC that illustrates/shows/describes your day
A theme from your list
Artist's Choice! I'm really not picky and just love finding beautiful little pieces of art in my mailbox

USPS says my partner's package has been delivered! I can't wait for her to open it! I hope everything's to her liking. Smiley
9  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Re: Undercover Fandom Angel Needed on: May 05, 2016 01:29:49 PM
I hope your angel spoils you so rotten. After organizing such an amazing swap, you definitely deserve it.

Like I said, if no one else ends up being able to angel, I can probably step up. I hate the thought of you having to go without!

Wheee, don't you just love those sudden sicknesses that creep up on you with very little warning? I woke up with my sinuses feeling stuffed and swollen, which I guess counts as warning, but I wake up like that a lot and it never gets any worse. Except for today! My face feels like it's stuffed full of cotton and it's hard to focus on anything but staring blankly at the wall. Good thing I'm all caught up on my swap packages! Just have to drop one at the post office after work and then I'm done! (Of course I need to send 2 ATCs too but those are just a matter of bringing them to the mailbox with me.)
