21  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you interpret THIS?? on: June 13, 2007 01:39:28 AM
Wow!! Thanks so much for all the help! This is definitely gonna be a near future project for me...I've decided to put it aside til my exams are over though.

...I think I can...I think I can...I think I can...

Hehe, I think I may have found a big piece of the puzzle...take a look at this page...
http://www.hassdesign.com/StitchLegend/
It tells you what most of the symbols mean! I'm not sure what the starting ring is...a magic circle?

And I really have no idea about the yarn thickness and hook size...up the top of the chart is says 110g (the amount of yarn??) and there's a 6 there too...a 6mm hook?

I'm still sorta lost...any help would be greatly appreciated...

(I really shouldn't be thinking about crochet now...it's exam time...but I'm just taking a little break...Cheesy)

I came across the cutest hat in the world...in the cutest yarn ever...

http://www.puppyarn.co.jp/03patterns/3.html#09
And if you click on 'print' on that page, you can download some sort of a chart...does anyone know how to read it??

I love this hat...and it's winter here so it'd be a perfect opportunity to make something cute and warm!

Help! Cheesy

I've included some stuff to keep Nairne entertained on her long flight to Montana!! ...but I'm not telling the details...

...I'm definitely gonna be taking my visitor on some outdoor trips...but's that all I'm telling! I have to admit, for the first week or so, my visitor won't be going out much...I have 7 exams to get through. But after that it's holidays so me and Mr Zither are gonna have heaps of fun!

...I had planned for Nairne to leave for Montana today but I completely forgot that today is a public holiday!! What a dope! So she'll be heading off on her journey tomorrow...before or after my first end of semester exam... Embarrassed Wish me luck!

...looks like all the visitors are set for an adventure!
27  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Bjork and crazy freeform crochet...wow. on: June 10, 2007 04:04:40 AM
My older brother just called my attention to some pictures of Bjork he saw on the apple.com site (he likes apples and he likes Bjork...he's a pretty cool brother!)...
http://www.apple.com/pro/profiles/pollard/
These are the pics from the apple site...

OH my goodness. Bjork is so damn cool. Just lookit all the pictures...they speak for themselves!!

So I went on a google adventure armed with the words 'Bjork' and 'crochet'. Wow...I'll let you see...one of these is apparently her latest album cover or a promo image(I'm not entirely sure this is true...but you can see some more crochet anyway)

So apparently google tells me that Bjork did not crochet these herself but a group called the "Icelandic Love Corporation" made all these costumes. Aren't they awesome?? Here is their website http://ilc.is/ILC/index.html I am still looking through the site...they have some more crochet stuff and other crazy costume, performance and installation art works. I think they live in freeform crochet costumes. Smiley I was just so excited by the awesome freeform crochet I just had to share!

What do you all think? Go forth and make crazy crochet...let your creative juices flow and release your inhibitions!

...Bjork is so cool. The world would be boring without her and artists like the Icelandic Love Corporation.  Cheesy
28  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Re: Paperdaisies' very own ATC gallery! on: June 08, 2007 06:49:41 PM
I scanned in another that I forgot I drew. I did this one over my last christmas break...his name is Adair and he was heavily inspired by a 'Commando' comic called 'Terror in the Sky'.

It's just a fine point black pen on some lovely watercolour paper I found. I really didn't want to colour it. What do you all think?

...I don't think I'll be pumping out many cards soon...I have 7 exams to get through first... Embarrassed
29  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: My first ever recon...shapeless yellow tee INTO DRESS! [img heavy] on: June 05, 2007 05:21:57 PM
Awww, thanks for all the lovely comments guys!

I love this so much! I would wear it in a second!

As a matter of fact, I just wore this last night! Me and bro and my sis were gonna make a crazy video but then it started raining so we had to grab our keys and go run outside in the winter rain (but winters here are hardly winters!). So now my dress is hanging on the line and we danced to music in pyjamas....

...it hasn't rained here for ages!

30  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Little Visitor Round 7 (Signups May 23 to June 6) on: June 02, 2007 09:41:16 PM
I got a new camera for my birthday TODAY so I just needed to have a little photoshoot with my bubba...who I decided to name Nae Nae (short for Nairne, 'from the river' in scottish gaelic). She loves treasure and is quite a girly creature when you get to know her (despite appearances to the contrary!). She might just dress up a bit for her travels though!

Without further adieu...

...I made her a little while ago and posted her on Craftster under the tentative name of 'Skeleton Bear'...I like Nairne better...Cheesy I'm gonna miss her! Now I should make her a little profile...or maybe a passport.

Nae Nae's been looking at all the other critters pics with excitement...she can't wait! Everyone looks so cool and different!

ps. I used to have that hamburger transformer...and a large fries one and a milkshake one. Those were favourites in our family!!
