1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Love Birds, Jewels and Bows on: July 25, 2008 10:29:49 PM
Those are so adorable! I LOVE the black birds. Grin
2  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / CLOSED: Joss Whedon Crochetalong (From Crochet Me) on: July 25, 2008 10:40:20 AM
So, Crochet Me has started an epic quest to attempt to score an interview with Joss Whedon (explained at http://crochetme.com/blog/calling-geek-crafters-we-want-interview-joss-whedon-and-we-need-your-help). And what sort of geeky crocheter would I be if I didn't join the fun? Tongue I'll be making a Jayne Cobb hat (probably from Crochet Me's pattern, though I might change it up a bit), and I figured I might as well see if anyone was interested in a crochetalong.

3  COOKING / Dessert / White Chocolate Pound Cake (with recipe!) on: July 13, 2008 10:29:58 PM
As an avid reader of Friendly Hostility, I stumbled across this recipe for white chocolate pound cake. I have a HUGE weakness for sugar, so I pretty much HAD to make it! Grin This is actually the second attempt at it (I didn't have a fluted pan the first time around, but everything still tasted good). I substituted white chocolate chips instead of baking chocolate, but that didn't seem to make much difference. One thing I noticed about the recipe was the fact that even though the cake was fully cooked (I think- I used the "stick a toothpick in it and see if it comes out clean" trick), the area around the white chocolate chips was much gooier. I'm really, really hoping that's normal, but everyone who tried it said it was good.

Action shot:

Aaand a clear one:
4  COOKING / Dessert / Re: rainbow cheesecake...now with two attempts! updated 15Mar08 on: July 13, 2008 10:19:06 PM
Okay, so I have MASSIVE weaknesses for cheesecake and bright pretty colors, so I pretty much HAVE to make this. Thanks for the recipe!
5  COOKING / Dessert / Re: Why make regular popcorn when you can make... RAINBOW POPCORN! on: July 13, 2008 10:17:24 PM
This is so cool! I LOVE popcorn, and this seems like a great recipe for when I have people over. Smiley

So, I haven't posted here in forever, despite some lurking, but this board is too good of inspiration and I'm in a crafting rut. (Not to mention that my sister/craft buddy moved and my other craft buddy also seems to have crafter's block.) And I have a bunch of completely random projects to show off!

I'll start with the least recent, I guess. I made these last year, and wrote the pattern myself. The first is mine, and the second was gifted to a friend.

Well, I guess this was actually chronologically first! I made Pyramid Head from Silent Hill 2 for a good friend for Christmas. He's very tiny, and I wish I'd written down the pattern. Oh God, you can just smell the dorkiness coming off me. The second pic is my favorite- baby got BACK! Smiley

Dorky crocheted earrings! I actually have another rainbow pair of these I don't have a picture of. I totally wrote the pattern myself after looking for a way to use up old bangle bracelets from when I was a kid, and I've gotten a ton of complements and requests for these since then!

Aaaaaand an action shot.

A scrapghan!lapghan! My first afghan ever. I ended up loving the colors more than I thought I would. Now to finish the other two afghans I have lying around. Cheesy

I fell in love with the Pretty Puffs Slouchy Hat. I just had to make it. I have a serious hat-making addiction. I'll whip one out every hour on the hour when I'm feeling crafty.

A shawl, based vaguely on Crochet Me's Irish Oranges pattern. I had trouble following it, but the fishnet stitch looks virtually the same, so I just whipped this up using that. I'm pretty much in love with it.
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: The Fellowship of the Ring, amigurumi style! EDIT: PATTERN! on: April 08, 2008 09:00:24 PM
I'm just going to be the millionth one to mention that I am completely and utterly in love with these. I am such a dork for LotR.  Smiley
