21  pink panda baby hoodie in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by gerrijo on: September 28, 2007 01:13:29 PM
So Target was having infant hoodies on sale this week and I couldn't resist!  (Sorry for the links, photobucket does not want to upload my pictures for any reason and I am not tech savvy enough to know how to use anything else for the craftster boards here  Huh)

Here it is hanging up, I used pink and black felt for the ears and the panda.  I had a heck-of-a time trying to get the ears to stand up but I won that battle in the end, victory was mine!

And here is the action shot of my daughter in it.  She didn't want to hold still and since the hoodie is a bit big on her for now, the ears look a bit wonky.

I really kinda like how it came out, even my hubby was impressed!  Smiley

Okay, so photobucket crapped out on me so I only could get three of my pictures I took loaded up but I am too excited so I am sharing what I got up so far.  I will post the other pictures as soon as I can.

So here she is!  Lucy is back home and with an AWESOME new Arsenal (my favorite soccer team) scarf and an AWESOME new little friend!!  His name is Chas Oiseau and has already found himself at home (just as long as we keep him out of reach from our kitty cat!)

And here is an overview of most of the goodies that Lucy came with.  I am just floored by gizmonics generosity and fabulous sense of humor.  Not pictured are tons of great newspapers, booklets, maps, and magazines that Lucy picked up from her travels (including a crochet today magazine with super cute projects!).  Also not pictured is the awesome scrap book (dang that photobucket!  Hopefully I can get those pic loaded later today!).

Top row:  There is a embroidered "postcard", super cute kitty bookmarks, and a lovely bunny button as a part of random act of kindness project of gizmonic's.  Next row down: Giz sent some books about Ohio and her hometown of Brunswick.  The best is this book on Ohio oddities (did you know Ohio is home to a famed pumpkin carver and the Accounting Hall of Fame?).  Also a calender featuring pictures from Cleveland (which is a lot cooler looking than I could ever imagine).  Next row:  Amazingly cute plate and utensil set from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for my daughter Ame, some lovely organic yarn, Boston Tea Party Tea, Pocky (yes!), and some super yummy peanut butter and chocolate candies (which I ate two of at 8:15 in the morning.)  Then in the front:  All the items were packing with loving care inside fabric squares that will be excellent for making some small purses.  Also there was a Sheffield United banner (another EPL soccer team), a beautiful small flower vase, more Boston Tea (I heart tea), some Guinness bread mix (yummm!!), a super hilarious cross-stitch pattern, and two beautifully knitted washclothes just for Ame!

I cannot even begin to describe how awesome gizmonic's pictures are, it looks like Lucy had an amazing time.  This one might be my favorite:

And here I got the kitty checking things out.

"I can haz Pocky?"

Hopefully I can post the rest of the pictures soon!

Now I am just getting major swap anxiety.  I mean how can anyone top that?!?!

Okay - I am trying to save all the good stuff but little Pierre was feeling a little homesick over the holiday so I showed him craftster and let him look at all the pictures in this gallery and he perked right up!  Then he proceeded to spend the next four hours looking at projects.  Can you blame him though?

24  Re: Japanese Anime/Manga swap gallery!! in The Swap Gallery by gerrijo on: July 05, 2007 01:25:18 PM
Oh hooray today was the day I received from Kazkitty!

I just love everything, here is the overview of the loot:

clockwise we have a little hand-drawn Jiji bag (uh, can you say amazing?), some super cute crocheted sushi (love them!), a beautiful frame that has all sorts of awesome anime and manga characters pasted to it, a pair of totoro earrings in the bottom corner (squeeee!), three mangas of Ranma 1/2 (Soooooo excited), and two bookmarks, one of totoro and one of kodama (I am such a book nerd and I needed these!).

And I tried and tried to get a good picture of the earrings but it just wasn't happening, I really wish you could see just how awesome and detailed they are

She also sent some pocky that was promptly eaten.

Thank you thank you thank you kazkitty, it was more than worth the wait!!!!

Huzzah!  My print is on the front page right now!!!  I am the little teapot print in the corner.  I basically let out a little scream when I saw that and I had to share!

Oh my freaking gosh gizmonic, that picture of Lucy with the UPS man is absolutely hilarious.  I really can't get over it.  We took Pierre for a walk his first night here to show him the neighborhood.  We live right next to the Minneapolis Institute of Arts and he wants to send this picture along!

Now I must go into surprise mode and try not to post any more pictures! Cheesy

27  Built by Wendy 4110 - Pants/Capris in Sewing Pattern Reviews by gerrijo on: June 13, 2007 11:07:10 AM
So this is my first time sewing pants and I was a bit overwhelmed with the idea.  I decided that I was going to attmpt the Built by Wendy capris as my first try

And here they are

I am in love with them!  I was a bit worried that the largest size (20) would not be big enough since I am a RTW 14 but they fit really well, they are even a little baggy and I could go down a size.  The only wonky part was the waistband.  First the waistband didn't quite line up with the top.  And when I tried sewing it, it kept bunching up.  Then at the end it was gaping pretty badly at the back.  But I found out others have had issues with the waistband as well so I didn't beat myself up over it.  I am just sure to wear tops to cover it up Smiley  Now I am going to attempt making jeans from the pattern and I am crossing my fingers it works!

Oh gizmonic, I love that the UPS man had you take pictures!!  Lucy is on her way to you right now too, she was so excited for the trip she became quite restless and crocheted herself a scarf.  I told her it was a little hot for a scarf but she didn't seem to care

And how cute is your baby boy trinnie?!  It looks like tigger is well loved Smiley

29  what's black, blue, and yoked all over? in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by gerrijo on: June 11, 2007 09:32:21 AM
So here is the shirt I recon'ed out of two old shirts and some extra fabric for new sleeves (please excuse cheesy look from model - I am not good at getting my picture taken)

The basic shirt part is an old black tee shirt from target.  The patterned yoke part is also a shirt from target.  Both of these were just not working for me anymore so I married them into my new favorite top!  I also wasn't digging the cap sleeves on the tee so I made new ones by tracing out the old sleeve and gathering the bottom into a cuff.  Then I made the keyhole by the neck and closed it off with the red button.  I was looking to make something for a recent interview I had and the manager complimented my on it!  I had never attempted such a project so I happy it turned out all well as it did even if it isn't perfect.  Now I am going to raid my closet and arrange some more marriages between shirts!
