1  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / Re: Fabric Size and Count Help on: August 19, 2018 02:01:39 PM
I think I have a direction. My pattern is a 10x10 grid and I have 151x176 boxes (stitches) A friend on facebook posted a link to this calculator: https://www.yarntree.com/java/xstitchcal.htm

According to that, rounded up:

22 count fabric would give me a finished size of 7"x8"
18 count fabric would give me a finished size of 9"x10"

Am I doing that right?

So I have a cross stitch pattern and I'm not sure what size fabric or count I should get.

At the top of the pattern it says Grid Area 153W x 178H | Design Area 149w x 174H

Erm yeah no idea how that translates to Aida cloth and count. I've message the person that I got the pattern from on Etsy but figured I'd see about getting your input.

Tea Couture - that is really pretty!  You could just stipple it (I don't know much about freemotion)

@cursive_queen That is a really fun quilt. I like the energy it gives off as well. I think the backing is fine.

And I was thinking 'stippiling' would work on this. Just not sure I want to use a huge quilt as my first time trying it. Someone else mentined diamonds.

I may just bite the bullet and dive in with the stipple method... it just scares me hehe. And I would consider stippling free motion because you aren't following a drawn straight line. I tend to be a little OCD when it comes to quilting. I think that's why freemotion kinda scares me. It's organic and not ordered like lines. But I'm willing to try it hehe

I like the idea of a diamond pattern. Just not seeing where it would go?

I'm stuck on what type of quilting pattern to use. I had thought about doing something free form, just not sure i want to tackle that on something this large. I think the wall I used to hang that from is 6' or so... taller than me anyways.

So any ideas on how to quilt this bad boy?

So here is one of the quilts I listed for this year. The wall I hung it from is about 6' tall. At this point I need to quilt it and then bind it. But I'm stuck on what type of quilting pattern to use. Any ideas?

Ack... okay yeah that Spock quilt is amaz! I may have to attempt that!

I think I may try this craft along... I have a few quilts I need to make and well this might just get my proverbial you know what in gear to finish them... no promises though. This list is not in any particular order:

1. Finish 'baby quilt' for Sophie- Details to follow
2. Spock Quilt
3. Burning Man quilt for Mama Kabuki
4. Quilt for Cousin Leah's expected little one
5. Quilt for Aunt Diana
6. Quilted jean seat covers for Edgar the bug

I'm sure I have more but this is a good start.

Sent and done. Smiley Happy Holidays!

Indeed... sent and SQUEEE! Okay so be warned... lots-o-pics... This is the best swap package I have gotten so far! I loved every single bit! And I have to admit I was waiting at the mail box when the mail man arrived... he even asked if I was waiting for something... /blush... yes I am... was my reply!

Thank you franknhurter... My Christmas is complete!

So without further adieu lets see how a lonely empty pink foil tree became friends with zombies =D

My tree's haute couture has arrived... just in time for the zombie ball!

Luckily my zombie goodies were kept safe... or was it the postal service that was protected in the end... hrm...

Who would have thunk a zombie finger would be such a great chap stick holder... and it has the faint hint of Burt's Bees Pomegranite to it... /ponders... Burt's... Bee's you say... I say Burt's Zombies!

Of course... zombie critters should inhabit the zombie tree I cut from the zombie forest- head desk!

Ink, stamp... Repeat! Kinda like a semi automatic weapon... I've heard they are good at taking down zombies! This is just a titch more crafty!

For those zombie loving folks closest to your heart... /warm fuzzies...

What zombie xmas wouldn't be complete with out a survival kit... I mean who knows who may want to eat your braaaaiiiiiins on the this most important of birthday nights...?

So yeah... you have everything you need to fend off zombies on xmas... chocolate... mints... brains... can't get better than this... I bet Alice is jealous right about now!

So yeah... on this sleepless Yule Tide Eve. I can brush up on how to survive those pesky zombies out to eat Santa's coo... er BRAAAAIIINS!

My pink tree is set to be properly dressed now!

All my goodies!

Yup my creepy woodland creatures do not disappoint... dangly eyes, bones and rabid coons... woot! or is that... Oh My!

Oh Santa Baby... you do not disappoint!

Yeah that's right... I'm lit and nekkid take that and avert your eyes... but wait... what do my...

All my zombie goodness by the light of the pale pink moon. Yeah my eyes see Zombies!

Look what Santa left me! I must have been extra good... um /cough... right...

Yeah I don't think I'd want to meet these little critters in the dark of night... even back lit by pink... /shudder... where's my ear!

My tree is more fashionable than I am... ! But I'm okay with that... hrm...

While it took a bit to get my swap goodies... I am sooo totally okay with this. I loved every little bit. The zombie wrappers did an excellent job and I couldn't be more pleased... Watch out Xmas 2012... you will be invaded by zombies!

Found my camera!!!!

I am so glad you like your goodies. I was thinking the scarf might be too long. But I've made myself a scarf that was too short and it just doesn't work as well as a wrap yourself to oblivion length. I curious even if it's a PM just for the feedback =D

Let me know how those coasters work too. I was afraid that the embroidery might make glasses a little wonky when you set stuff on them. I tested them before totally finishing them and it seemed to work out alright.

Very much so! I just wish I could wear it outside, but it's been staying warmer here, 50* in WNY in November is not normal!

Not that i want it to get colder... but ... get colder dang it!
