41  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween cookies on: October 28, 2006 08:59:30 AM
I made these for my husband to take to work for a halloween potluck.

I'm happy with these ghosts on a broom, but the witches brooms didn't turn out quite how i wanted them to.

I used pre-made pb cookie dough for the bristles.  I think they spread out too much.

The bristles here are fruit roll ups

This is my first attempt at making "fussy" treats like this.  I thought I would get frustrated, but they were actually really fun to make.
42  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Stinky fish on: October 27, 2006 06:33:03 AM
I am so not a fan of fish.  Other than breaded deepfried fish sticks, I do not like the smell or taste of fish.  My husband just found out his cholesterol is not where it should be, and needs to encorporate more fish into his diet.  Fish sticks would really defeat the purpose with all that breading.  I hate the idea of making 2 different meals for each of us, and I probably should start eating better myself.  Does anyone know of any fish recipes where the fish does not really taste like fish?
43  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / my 1st quilt: raggy edge on: October 25, 2006 10:58:44 AM
After many trips through the dryer to get the edges ragged...

back: made from my daughter's old flannel receiving blankets.

I learned a lot from the whole process.  I made more than one mistake along the way, but over all I am proud of the end result.

44  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / 2 xstitch bellpulls on: October 25, 2006 10:47:17 AM
I stitched these a few years ago and finally got around to making them into "bell pulls."  Although neither of them actually have bells.  They are going to be xmas gifts for my MIL and SIL.  I'm so jazzed that I've finished them so far in advance!

This was made from freebies I found online a while ago. They are stitched with hand dyed threads.

I put this together from a froggie font I have in an alphabet pattern book.

Here's a close up of the frogs and the fringe at the bottom.
45  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / cross stitch bookmark on: October 02, 2006 01:22:59 PM
I finally made this bookmark I stitched last summer into an actual bookmark.

The whole thing

ACK.  I just realized I posted in the wrong area.   Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed  Sorry everyone.

I'm fairly new to the boards and just got around to taking a few pics of some of my favorite finishes.

47  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / xsttich mermaid pillow on: September 29, 2006 05:54:52 PM
I finished the stitching on this pillow over a year ago, but only last week got around to making it into a pillow.  It is going to be a Xmas gift for one of my sister in laws.  The photo didn't turn out the best. It's propped up against one of my cats if that gives you any idea of size. It was stitched over 1 on 25 ct lugana.

Oh, and the pattern was a freebie from cyberstitchers.

Let me know what you think!
48  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Another pointy kitty on: September 29, 2006 05:41:56 PM
Here is a pointy kitty I made last night. I call her "The good kitty" because she will never pee, scratch the sofa, or wake you up howling in the middle of the night.  This was the first stuffed toy I've ever made.  I can tell they are going to be extremely addicting!!

49  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Boring mailbox on: September 20, 2006 06:24:05 PM
I'm not sure if this is in the right section or not.  I've recently moved to a new house, and the mailbox is in terrible condition.  It's missing a flag and all banged up.  My mother, for some strange reason, had a spare mailbox lying around in her garage.  So now I have a nice mailbox, but it is very very blah.  I'd like to do SOMETHING to it, but I am stumped.  I can't seem to think of anything to do, other than paint it.  My drawing and painting skills are severely lacking.  I live in the Illinois and the winters get pretty cold here, and I don't know how things would stand up to the elements.  Any suggestions? Huh
