21  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Does anyone decorate their SEWING MACHINE? on: January 08, 2007 12:45:13 PM
I know that on some machines you can take parts of the outer "shell" off, i suppose you might be able to take those of and spray paint them...

Mmmmm this is what I am considering, I've been googling computer/laptop modding for ideas and examples.
22  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Wrist Cuff Swap Round 3 (SEND OUT Jan 8th) - CLOSED on: January 06, 2007 09:47:49 AM
There's still a few I haven't heard from. Since we've all been busy and recoving from the holiday, I will extend the deadlin to Monday the 8th. Please be sure to mail your cuff by Monday so everyone will receive around the same time Smiley

Oh thank goodness! I was just about to PM and say I couldn't send till Monday anyway! Smiley I...overextended myself a bit lol. Then I didn't like the way the cuff was coming a decided to do a differet one instead!

I was just wondering this. Does anyone think painting it would be possible? Of course, you would need to be VERY careful...

26  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: Making Your Own Corset? on: January 03, 2007 07:21:33 AM
Sounds like a great idea to me!  Since I've vowed to make another corset after the one I'm currently working on, maybe I'll give it a try.
It would be a great way to make the corset more wearable, since you could match the different covers to different outfits.  I say that if you spend that much time and money making something, it should be something you will get a lot of use out of!

Hm, how would you attach the cover to the corset itself?  Snaps maybe?  Hooks and eyes?  Maybe separating zippers?

That's why I thought of it - I figure, some of the nice "cover" fabrics might be the sort of thing you should dry clean only, but you might be able to cut down on that some if your "under corset" could be handwashed easily. Also, this way you would only have to do the boning ONCE lol instead of for each new corset! Cheesy

I would probably do hook and eyes or snaps I think...but I would love to see what people come up with!
27  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Hairdo ATC Swap (SIGNUPS thru 1/10/07; SEND BY 1/19/07) on: January 02, 2007 05:59:25 PM
Hmmmm I love *looking* at everyone's ATCs...but as I don't think I want to *have* any (I am pretty anti-clutter LOL and am moving soon on top of it!) I think I will limit myself to watching this swap avidly. But....I may reconsider because I LOVE hairdos! (I have hip length hair, I take this stuff kinda serious LOL!!)

ATCs aren't clutter! This swap is going to be so awesome, that you'll want to frame your series, or make a book for it and put it on display!

But even if you decide not to join, we are happy to have you as a hairdo spectator Smiley

Even artwork can be clutter very easily in my tiny NYC apartment (shared with two young kids no less! lol). I even have a strict policy on the kids crafts, every couple of weeks I clear a BUNCH of kid art off the fridge (and everywhere else it hangs out) to make room for new stuff (and with a 3 year old going to a minimum of two to three art programs a week...it adds up FAST!!)

Which isn't to say they aren't all lovely to look at! They are Cheesy I love seeing some of the ATCs that craftsters have done. But with such little space, I can only collect but so many things - and aside from kid stuff, my heart then goes to my craft supplies and clothing LOL!

I have not made any ATCs for exactly this reason...what does one *do* with them after?? :/
