Well In the picture the stiches are used to add detail you defaintly shouldn't loose that.  Also I would just get a paper envople and carefully take its apart and use that as a template.  For fabrics I would keep the outside simple with a fun funky inside and the stiches should match the inside and pop on the outside. Kinda like these fabrics
Dark chocolate brown

Stiches could be in pink.

Hey yall I have some nice fabric, but I don't know what my purse should look like I got some nice fabric, and handles(down below).  I don't believe making myself a pattern will be a probly Im pretty good with that part but I just can't decide what the design of the  purse should be soooo please if you could show me pictures of what you have done or maybe just draw it on paint
This the African Fabric I love it the gold is a bit shiny and their animals in it

And here is the outside fabric(African stuff) the inside (Velvety dark brown with shiny gold dots) and the Handles (there are two fo them they are dark chocolate colored wooden circles)

Get some solid comp.  Fabric and cut them to very short mini skirts(short then you would like)  And then under neath add on or two layers of solid fabric coming out  Kinda like this but yeah
