2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Pretty in Pink: I think I may have actually made a stylish purse. on: May 19, 2010 06:11:19 PM
I don't know how this happenedI love patchwork. I've been piecing together fabric scraps since 7th grade. However, usually I made silly, bubbly bags which many people would love to carry, but which are more cheery than stylish. I love cheery. However, I was sewing as usual, but I decided to stick to all red fabrics(I almost managed it) and try out a new purse style. Then I didn't feel like making a handle, so I added a pre-made one. And it turned out nice. So nice I almost don't know what to do with it. I don't carry fancy purses. But I will stop writing now and show you pictures.

Thank you for reading! Questions and comments are beloved!
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Patchwork pyramid in the hopes of being a wallhanging. Suggestions? on: May 19, 2010 05:51:30 PM
I am making my mother a wall hanging for her birthday. I was inspired by a Pine Tree Mandala patchwork quilt, but my attempt turned into something very different. I really like it, but I feel that it needs more to make it suitable for a wall hanging in a sane(well, mostly) household. Opinions and suggestions for additions would be wonderful.

And here's a closeup of a section.

Truly, any thoughts or suggestions would be very very welcome. I have lots of small and large pieces of fabric, and I can freehand quilt on my machine if decorative quilting might help. I was considering adding fabric to make a square and quilt in a contrasting color in the plain fabric.

thank you so much for reading,

That is very beautiful. And very inventive of you to make it from homemade pasta. That thought didn't even occur to me when I first looked at the challenge.

I want a car with orange seat belts! Your pouch is beautiful and makes me happy. Smiley

The flaps are supposed to look like petals. They fold over the bag and the binding attaches them, I think. They don't serve a purpose other than being pretty, but I bet they could be made into pockets. That's an interesting thought, actually...Smiley
7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / I used a pattern! Pretty green purse. on: October 06, 2008 07:38:56 AM
I hardly ever have the patience for patterns, so that really is saying something for me. I made this purse for my college roommate. She loves green. She uses it constantly and that's a huge compliment to me. Unfortunately I did not bring the pattern to college with me, so I cannot tell you what it is, but I can show you pictures!

The patchwork for this baby took FOREVER. But it turned out pretty Smiley

Thank you for looking!

Oh my goodness! I work in a quilting shop, and I've been staring at that fabric since it came in, wondering what in the world I could make with it. Lovely job!

I have the same book that you do- and reading through it, they sounded so easy...

I went out and bought the frosting... the starburst... the marshmellows... the melting wafers... the M&M's... the runts... the food coloring... the special cookies... the cupcake mix....

And once I started decorating them, I realized what it was I forgot.... I CAN'T DECORATE CUPCAKES WORTH A CRUD!!!!!  Angry

They were AWFUL!!! LOL. It was the worst attempt I have ever made at anything... ever!!! LOL.

So I have extra-added respect for you and your perfect kitty-cakes!  Grin

Haha, actually, I cheated. I tried to do the melting wafers thing, failed, and just did the fishies in frosting. Try again! The mistakes are still delicious. Oh, and the smaller the holes you cut out in the plastic bag, the easier it is to control the frosting.
