1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Finally on to the fun stuff-nursery decorating! on: January 08, 2010 09:28:27 AM
First, the blocks and the curtains are lovely. Second, the baby is adorable. And third, the mushroom fabric is ab fab. I would love to get my hands on some of that myself. I am not old, (32 is so not old.) and whether in the kitchen or in a baby's room it rocks.  Smiley

Hey, you can live north of the border and still be in Michiana!  Wink
Buchanan here, just a hop skip and jump from the lake. But we're currently in a six month reprieve from much lake effect.

Wow, thanks everyone!
It's so easy to do, and Michael's has the gems on sale quite often.
- You could try Craigslist or Freecycle for bowling balls, my aunt in law did this for me, and I ended up with over 20!

Congratulations on finishing something so big! You did a great job!

6  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / I Have a Few M&P Questions on: January 10, 2008 11:48:18 AM
I've been researching melt and pour (along with CP) for about a week now. I've gone to many, if not all of the links provided here. I figure I'll start out with the melt and pour, and if I like what I'm doing, I'll proceed to the next step.

Anyhow, on to my questions! (And take in mind I've been to so many websites now that my head is swimming with information, and I know I read somewhere about this or that, but after 20plus websites....)
1. I have an extra crock pot, I know I read somewhere about using this, but most tutes I've looked at today have either double boiler or microwave. Can I use my crock pot?

2. Can you add to melt and pour things to make it richer, creamier, etc.?

I could have swore there were a few more questions, my mind seems to have frozen at the moment, if I have more, I'll come back and ask.
Thanks in advance!
7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Pink and Purple Baby/Tot Blanket on: January 09, 2008 05:16:04 AM
Thank you lilliesinmycerael. Her husband is allright right now. He's stateside at the moment even. Not being home for Christmas, he's managed to get here today for two weeks. Just in time for the baby!

pjherbert, thank you! The yarn actually has a really long colorway. It's Bernat Baby Coordinates Sweet Stripes. Halfway through the blanket, Wal-Mart discontinued it, so I bought five skeins of it, and I still have one left.

Credu.Afon, the mommy loves pink and purple together. I loved all the colors this yarn came in though. The green and white was precious as well. I wanted something a little different for the fringe, it's Baby Bee Sweet Delight Pomp in Sweet Cheeks. It matches up almost perfectly. And steal away! The fringe was so quick to do, and it's perfect for a baby blanket. Thank you!

I'm on serious cute overload!

The set on the right is going with the crocheted blanket I made for a friend. The set on the left was, well while I'm at it..... my six year old will probably snatch it for her Kitty from Build a Bear.
Took me about two days to do both.
How did I do? Am I getting better at knitting yet?  Cheesy

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Pink and Purple Baby/Tot Blanket on: January 08, 2008 10:31:48 AM
I'm on cuteness overload!
I made this for a girl who works with my mother. I made her wedding cake and a towel cake when she got married. Well, not two months after she got married, her new husband was deployed. Then she found out she was pregnant!
Having some limited income problems, I racked my head as to what to make for her.

Thus we have my very first crocheted blanket. The body is double crochet. The fringe I winged, (never having done fringe before). I free styled it, so it came out way bigger than I expected, but will last the wee one longer that way.

On to the pictures!

You can't really tell how big it is here, I didn't have a model to hold it up. Except my three year old, then it would have drug the floor even with him holding it up over his head.

Edge detail. Basically I would single, then chain 8 slip into next, and do over.

The body took me about a month. Times I would have my hand cramped so bad. But I was trying to finish before the huge 12 days swap. I managed to finish the body, but the edge waited until after Christmas. I managed to finish that in a weekend.

So, how did I do? Does this look like something someone would want?
