1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / "Let's Go Sailing" Sailor outfit [img heavy] on: April 30, 2008 08:18:00 PM

So a while ago a good friend of mine asked me to make her this outfit! I finally got around to it this weekend and voila! Tell me what you think please! Does it look like the original? Comments and critique is ALWAYS welcome =D

Here is the outfit in black

And here it is in white

Shirt (please ignore the wrinkles! I didn't have time to iron it before my friend came over

Sorry for all the pictures!!! But I'm super giddy and happy with the way everything came out. Again, any questions, comments and critique are totally welcome =D Thankies!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / The "I Can Do Anything" spring skirt, AKA McCalls 5591 on: April 04, 2008 07:02:29 PM

So I hardly sew from patterns anymore, but when I saw this skirt I knew I had to make it! I have this stash of fabric that is only growing, a friend who needed some skirts, and the perfect pattern! What do you guys think?? It was totally easy to make; only took a couple of hours from start to finish. I definetly reconmend this pattern for people to try =] And now on to more pictures!

As always C&C are totally cool! =D Tell me what you think!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Alexander Henry makes my heart swoon!!! on: March 29, 2008 12:33:29 PM

I absolutely love the bold prints of Alexander Henry's fabric, and when I saw this at the fabric store I knew I had to get some. =] My mom loves red's, brown's, blue's and purses so I made her a bag. =]

When I saw the apple and pear fabric at Joann's I pounced and got the last of it (only half a yard =[ ) and make it into a cute tote bag for my friend's 1.5 year old daughter. She's always carrying around her mom's purse (which is the same size as her and soooo cute!!) so I decided to make a tote bag just for her self!

I *love* the rick-rack at the top!

As always comments and critique welcome. =]
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Black goth bondage mini skirt (kinda image heavy!) on: March 08, 2008 12:52:13 PM

So I never thought this skirt was post-worthy until my friend told me I should post anyways! I've been making her some goth clothes to wear to the club to get me some business and so far I've had some mild success!! Here are some closeup shots of the skirt:

And here is another one from the photo shoot that I did:

(Sorry for the crapy colors of the photos! They look amazing on the computer, but when I uploaded them, they became all washed out) Comments and (helpful) critique are always welcome! Thanks for looking =]
5  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / Every baby girl needs their own bag! And I need help!!! on: January 04, 2008 03:24:11 PM
Happy New Years crafty moms!

I have a question for you guys (er..gals =])! I want to make one of my co-workers a messenger style bag for her 15 month old daughterbut I dont know how big to make it! All my close friends who are my age (22) dont have any kids so I cant figure out the size that way, and I dont want to ask my co worker because I want it to be a surprise! She was telling me stories of how she walks around the house holding her purse with her plastic keys and cell phone, and ever girl needs a bag of her own. She said her daughter is average size for a 15 month old. So if anyone can give me any suggestions of how long and tall the bag should be, and how long the strap should be, I would be super, super happy and grateful! Have a great weekend =]
6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Serger...do I really need one? on: October 05, 2007 11:40:17 AM
So after months of saving I finally have enough to *hopefully* buy a decent serger (roughly $400), but the question is: do I really need one?? I know they finish off edges nicely, but a zigzag stitch does the same thing, right? I mainly make pants, bags and accessories, and so far my sewing machine hasn't let me down.
Can anyone recommend a good serger too? I honestly don't know what I'm looking for or need! Help!
7  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Knit Nightmares on: September 26, 2007 03:21:12 PM
So I think I'm comfy enough in my sewing abilities to begin working with knits...until I hear about all these horrible experiences. But they never tell me what went wrong, or what they did, or better yet, how they fixed the problem. So here it is people! I'm asking you to tell me your knit nightmares and (more importantly) how you over came them. Somehow I don't think a nightlight is going to do the trick this time! =]
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / To yoke or not to yoke? on: September 25, 2007 09:56:32 AM
I have a couple of questions for you guys that I hope you can answer!

First: whats the difference between a yoke waistband, and a regular one? The only one that I can tell is the yoke is curved? But when I sew a yoke waistband I cant tell that its curved.

Second: I have a pattern that I use for wide leg pants that I had to make larger. The pattern comes with a yoke but Ive been making a regular waistband. How do I make the yoke pieces bigger? Where would I increase?
Thanks so much for the help!!!
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Sailor Jacket !! (slightly image heavy) [EDIT!: New pics on page 4!!!!!] on: September 23, 2007 06:11:14 PM

YAY!!!!! I'm finally done with this outfit! My friend wanted this outfit (http://onlyinjapan.net/gallery/albums/commisson/commission06.sized.jpg) so I set out to make it. Finally two months later I'm done! (Stupid school/work taking up all of my time.) Let me know what you guys think. I'm looking for constructive criticism/thoughts to help me grow as a seamstress.

Tell me what you honestly think please =] My friends/family tell me that they like it, but maybe they are just saying that because they don't want to hurt my feelings. However "I HATE IT!!!" doesn't really help. =\ I'm off to make something else ^___^
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Crack Kills! Help! on: September 14, 2007 03:16:25 PM
I got Simplicity 3686 over the weekend and made a pair out of muslin. I loooove the pattern, except for one thing! The rise in the back is dangerously low on me. Like it should be illegal, and when i sit down BAM! Crack! I don't want these to be super high waist, but how do I go about adding an inch or so to the rise so I can sit down without worrying about showing everyone something they don't want to see ^^;; Thanks so much for your help!!!
