2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Cool-It Clothes - 1970s beachwear from towels and scarves on: August 06, 2011 10:24:10 AM
Apologies for the poor condition of the magazine pages ... but I particularly liked the beachrobe! I've posted versions on Flickr too so that you can read the text, starting here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/trashingdays/6015176040/in/photostream

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Children's bonnets from 1901 on: July 09, 2011 11:40:50 AM
I thought these might be useful for someone making historical costume, or maybe a cute christening outfit!. The full pages with drafting/construction instructions can found at

5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Japanese Pattern Drafting book from 1967 on: October 03, 2009 11:21:17 AM

I love the girl on the bottom right's expression! I guess she doesn't like the outfit ...

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Another of those wallets from a great tute ... on: June 07, 2009 03:14:37 AM

I have been using it for the last week and it is very practical.
7  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Giant Crochet Robot! on: April 25, 2009 10:15:50 AM
This is  from "The Great Granny Crochet Book", published in 1979 by the American School of Needlework.

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Waist Wallet on: January 01, 2009 07:49:43 AM

This waist wallet is made from the free Wild Things program you can find here:

I've made a few of these, I like the way the straps attach because they make it lie very flat against the body. Good way to use up scraps too! It's fastened with a button at the back.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Knit a Hat for SUMMER TRAVEL on: December 31, 2008 11:33:59 AM
This is from Stitchcraft magazine, May 1966 Issue.

I love the idea that it's for summer holidays, must say something about UK summer temperatures!

And here's an advert from the same issue, I love the way that just anything could be related to the space race:

And a crocheted hat from the August 1966 issue:

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Yoshimi Wrist Warmer on: December 31, 2008 06:46:25 AM

This is from the free Burdastyle pattern, made in polar fleece. They go all the way up to my elbows and I can comfortably type and use my sewing machine with them on! I've tried some of the crocheted wristwarmer patterns before but like these much better because of the close fit.

I altered the pattern a bit so that I can cut them flat, not on the fold. This makes it easier to cut out two at the same time ensuring you have a correct left and right piece. I also added an extra quarter inch seam allowance. The thumbs are a bit fiddly to stitch in but other than that these are really easy and quick to make.
