I love the girl on the bottom right's expression! I guess she doesn't like the outfit ...

8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Waist Wallet on: January 01, 2009 07:49:43 AM

This waist wallet is made from the free Wild Things program you can find here:

http://www.wildginger.com/products/wildthings.htm

I've made a few of these, I like the way the straps attach because they make it lie very flat against the body. Good way to use up scraps too! It's fastened with a button at the back.
9  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Vintage Craft Projects / Knit a Hat for SUMMER TRAVEL on: December 31, 2008 11:33:59 AM
This is from Stitchcraft magazine, May 1966 Issue.

I love the idea that it's for summer holidays, must say something about UK summer temperatures!

And here's an advert from the same issue, I love the way that just anything could be related to the space race:

And a crocheted hat from the August 1966 issue:

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Yoshimi Wrist Warmer on: December 31, 2008 06:46:25 AM

This is from the free Burdastyle pattern, made in polar fleece. They go all the way up to my elbows and I can comfortably type and use my sewing machine with them on! I've tried some of the crocheted wristwarmer patterns before but like these much better because of the close fit.

I altered the pattern a bit so that I can cut them flat, not on the fold. This makes it easier to cut out two at the same time ensuring you have a correct left and right piece. I also added an extra quarter inch seam allowance. The thumbs are a bit fiddly to stitch in but other than that these are really easy and quick to make.
