1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Baby Cardigan & Blanket FOs on: November 14, 2006 08:58:27 AM
With a new granddaughter due any day now, I've been busy knitting for her (first girl grandchild after 3 boys!)

The Pure & Simple Cardigan from Weekend Knitting is in Allhemp 6 from Hemp for Knitting. The hemp is stiff and has no stretch, but as soon as I finished it I popped it into the wash with a load of jeans (dryer too) and it's so soft now, with a very nice drape. Yes, I know it's for a girl, but girls can wear blue, too (and everything she's already gotten is either pink or white.) Truthfully, I bought the blue before we knew she would be a girl, the odds of a girl after so many boys were pretty small.  Grin

This very girlish blanket, Springtime Patchwork from Total Baby Knits by Candy Jensen, seemed like an easy project. Then I laid out all those squares and saw all those ends and all those seams... yikes! It just took some patience. The crocheted border was a stretch for me, but I used a reference book and actually got the stitches called for. I haven't blocked it yet: would it even do any good? It's in TLC Cotton Plus, also machine wash & dry.
