1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / question about using sheer fabrics on: July 03, 2007 12:06:22 AM
I have a pattern for a skirt (NewLook6463) that shows a picture of the finished product made with sheer fabric that is layered. If I want to make something with two layers of sheer fabric, is there a standard way to adjust the pattern? Or should I save my fabric for a pattern that specifically gives instructions for this? Because I didn't notice any notes about this in the pattern--it was written for only one layer as far as I can tell.... Huh
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Re: Feminism+totebag=strange looks at grocery store on: May 04, 2007 05:50:40 AM
you just made my day, literally! i just wore my newly-decorated feminist shirt for the first time yesterday, and all  day long i got puzzled looks from people. lots of people  asked me about it, too, and i had some cool random conversations. (the shirt has a coat hanger with the no-smoking symbol over it...its a pro choice thing)
back to my point....i love the bag!!

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help!!! I need advice before taking apart my brand new sewing machine! on: January 24, 2007 08:08:42 AM
Undecided  Well I could not hold out any longer, and I went to work with a screwdriver and managed to get the screw and my dear friend the magnet out. After doing the happy dance and congratulating myself, I threaded that baby up, got my project, and turned the machine on. It proceeded to beep without stopping and all the lights on it flash. I'm wondering if the magnet did it in?
5  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Help!!! I need advice before taking apart my brand new sewing machine! on: January 23, 2007 09:25:09 PM
Okay, so I just got a Singer 7444 for xmas. A piece of thread got caught in the hook down by the bobbin, so I cleaned the bobbin area out. When I went to replace the needle plate, the phone rang right next to me. (I just got a new cell phone, and it's LOUD.) I jumped about 10 feet, and dropped a screw INSIDE THE MACHINE. I could not get it out. So I got a magnet and taped it to a pencil, which I then stuck inside the machine. The magnet was stronger than the tape holding it to the pencil.

I called around and the only repair place even willing to help me get these out said it would probably cost around $55. That's way too much. So I will do it myself.

Does anybody know where I can find a good explanation of how to get inside the plastic cover of my machine? I really don't want to mess it up, and I'm kinda getting antsy, cus I'm in the middle of sewing a new skirt.

Thanks so much for clearing that up! I can finally use a book that I bought on e-bay months ago, but put aside because it made no sense, lol.
