21  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Re: Amelia Raitte's "My Fashionable Life" Knit A long on: December 16, 2006 12:37:17 PM
For anyone who is knitting or has knit Jess, how much yarn did you use? The reason I ask is because the smallest size calls for 1308 yards, which is the equivalent of 11 balls of Debbie Bliss Merino DK...but discountyarnsale.com has an awesome deal on 10-skein bags. Quick, enable me!  Tongue

That is stunning!  Shocked

Such a delicate piece of lacework; I like it without the nupps. And I like your color choice, too, it's not something you usually see for a shawl and it works really well.

Aww they're cute! I love the colors--I, too, have mint chocolate chip lip gloss kickin' around somewhere... Grin Your sister will love them for sure.

P.S: Those cookies look scrumdiddlyumptious.

I love your mini-Eleanor! The original is beautiful to look at, of course, but could probably be considered a little too dramatic for everyday wear. Yours is perfect, and the colors are wonderful!

P.S: cute kitties  Smiley
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: good cotton yarns, do they exist? on: December 04, 2006 07:11:15 PM
You can't beat the color selection with Cotton Fine and anything by Brown Sheep is quality. Reynolds Saucy Sport is another yarn that may be an option for you, although I've never personally used it (I just love the name; the word Saucy makes me giggle for some reason  Tongue)
27  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: $%$%^#$ Chenille thick and quick. Help Please! on: December 04, 2006 07:07:42 PM
Ugh, I know what you mean, I haven't used the Lion Chenille but I have tried knitting a scarf with Lion Suede...nightmare. You're definitely right on about not being able to do any complicated stitches...or even stockinette stitch.

What about a chenille "look-alike" yarn? Maybe something like TLC Amore? It's still soft and chenille-like but easier to knit with, I'd imagine. Good luck!

that looks SO COOL! seriously, what a beautiful sweater. I, too, would love to know more details, what yarn, any mods? stuff like that.  so I can make a meticulous carbon copy Smiley

This is a great idea for a knitalong! I pretty much drool over every one of Anna's patterns; she has such awesome style. Anyway, I'm not sure which pattern of hers I'd want to start with...I'm thinking Jess. Is anyone else working on this substituting yarn?

Also, her Flicca pattern is adorable. I was trying to turn myself off to knitting it, you know, saying I couldn't justify spending about a billion dollars on bulky yarn. But look! This yarn, it is quite affordable. And Christmas is coming up. I am my wallet's own worst enemy  Tongue
