31  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Chompy The Cupcake Monster! on: July 25, 2008 12:36:01 PM
This is Chompy the Cupcake Monster which you read from the title...

I made this for NerdyCrochetGal for the Two Things Combined Swap using her themes of Halloween and Cupcakes.

I broke at least 5 needles (which never happens to me) working with this fur Smiley The cupcake body and horns are made of black anti-pill fleece and it has pin tucks to represent the cupcake wrapper. The top is made of soft fur and the eyes, mouth are felt. The actual eyes are safety eyes of course Smiley

Overall Cutie Shot- His eye brows unfortunately make him look sweeter rather than scary...

Chompy's Chompers! Handstitched for your enjoyment Smiley

Eye/Eye brow Shot- Hand stitched with upholstery thread to look more haunting Smiley

Thanks for taking a peek! Let me know what you think!
32  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Head Stone inspired DS case with Beadwork on: July 25, 2008 12:07:28 PM
Yikes, what a hefty little title!

I made this DS case for Nerdycrochetgal for the Two Things Combined Swap. This used her themes of Halloween and Video Games. I used her wist for inspiration and found this http://www.pushindaisies.com/candypress/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=133

I worked up my own version of it, smaller of course. I used wool felt and flannel backed satin for the lining. The zipper is sewn in by hand and the appliquéd shapes are outlined with beads. It's kind of hard to see the appliqués in the picture because they are black on black but I promise that's how it is Smiley

This is the washed out overall shot so you can get the idea.

Angled shot- Can you kind of see the appliqué edges here?

Open with the lining showing- It really is grapey love like that too! See the nice zipper action?

Thanks for reading! Let me know what you think!
33  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Steampunk Inspired Skirt on: July 25, 2008 11:52:30 AM
I made this skirt for Nerdycrochetgal for the Two Things Combined swap. This skirt combined her themes of Halloween (costume) with steampunk.

The skirt has circles that are oversprayed with gray, white and silver spray paint. I hand drew some lines and shapes. I machine stitched my crazy lines all over including for the bottom hem. There are also felt appliqués with a little bit of beadwork and some metal washers for sparkle. It's also prepped to dye if she wants to add some color later on Smiley

The shape of the skirt is a drawstring waist with a bit of elastic so it'll be comfy after a large dinner !yum!

It doesn't really have a front per se but I have showed it one way on my dress form  so you get an idea! Also, enjoy my kitties and my new washer which are also in the pics Smiley

Left Side

Detail- You can see them hem in this one. It should fray really nice when it gets washed.

Detail- You can see the appliqués and spray paint in this one. It's like a surprise every time you look at it!

Let me know what you think! Thanks for reading!
34  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / the "I F***ed it up now you fix it" swap or "Lemons to Lemonade" swap on: June 26, 2008 09:29:36 AM
HA HA! Alternate titles...gotta love.

Ok, so have you got a pile of projects that you messed up so bad that you just cringe to think about finishing? Do you have ones that are TECHNICALLY salvageable but you are just fed up? How about projects that are FUBAR; too complicated to even have been attempted?

Well, I do! I notice while cleaning and organizing my crafty space that I have a lot of projects that I can't finish for whatever reason but just couldn't bear to throw away. A white knit shirt with hearts on it that only God knows what I was trying to do with the collar... A psychedelic sheer that almost became a twirly skirt which now just is a square of fabric with a big hole in the middle.... A poly clay project gone wrong...Oi too many to count.

So what we can do it swap our lemony f***ed up projects and our partner can either try to fix them or make something completely new from the rubble-ly scrap.

Now that you have read my evil plan... Two questions remain:

1) Should the projects return to the original partner or should they have a new home with the fixer?

2) Anyone interested in organizing or participating???
35  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Altering Dress Blues and CUU's- Crafty Prayers Unite! on: March 08, 2008 09:28:18 AM
I have about a day to alter a set of dress blues and cuu's for a friend in the Navy. I have to re-create the pocket on the cuu and put new stripes on the sleeves of the dress blues.

I need everyone to think of me and channel your good sewing vibes at my direction. Totally nervous, first attempt. I will post when I am done to let you know if I have completed my tasks...if there is no following post, I have died of a heart attack at my machine  Grin jk *knock on wood*
36  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Sweeney Todd and Margery Lovett Costume on: November 11, 2007 05:47:05 PM
This is only my second handmade costume. The bf and I decided to go as a treacherous couple of England's past. If you haven't heard of the gruesome group, wikipedia it.

I made my whole dress and the pie purse. The dress was made to be similar of what was worn at the time but I updated it and used more scary fabrics.

I also made the straight razor that Jensen is holding. Good times were had by all.

Comments and love are welcome!
37  Arizona / Arizona: Central / JoAnn Etc @ 83rd & Bell Remodel ( Tell me what you think) on: July 28, 2007 09:20:37 PM
I was just wondering if anyone had any comments about the JoAnn's @ 83rd and Bell. It's changed and I am a little sad. It feels less homey to me. I used to work there and no matter what happened it was always a happy place for me. Now it just feels 'eh.' Anyone else having a problem with it?
38  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Crafting for the Collector on: July 27, 2007 06:42:49 PM
I noticed that a lot of us around here are collectors. I've seen violentjane's elephant collection and emleebee's Disney collection and lots of others. Anyway, I was thinking that it could be fun to do a swap where we all craft to contribute to someone else's collection. I, for example, collect strawberry themed items so what I could do is post a picture sampling the items that I have  so that everyone would get an idea of what I have. It could work on a bidding system or the organizer can just randomly match partners. The random matching could be a fun way to try making something different than what you normally do....

so, what do you all think? unfortunately I don't feel ready to organize a swap yet so it'd need a radtastic organizer  Wink anywho, let me know what you all think Grin
