1  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Bunch of Semi-New FOs! Coachella and Raglans- Image Heavy on: August 07, 2007 09:17:41 PM
Hi. *waves* First FO post here.

First up, my latest (that I have pictures of) Coachella:

I knit this in about four days using SWTC Bamboo in Electric Blue, double stranded. It only used just over two balls! I really do love it, I just wish I'd skipped the short rows so it wasn't so indecent. At some point I'm going to knit a matching piece of lace or something so I don't have to wear a tank underneath. I would have ripped it out except I really wanted to wear it to the Hanson concert I was taking my nephew to that weekend. (He's nine and it was his first concert. He had a ball)

Next up, my self designed cable raglan tank (I really need a better name) :

I cast on with an idea and winged it. I've had a little interest for the pattern, so I'm trying to write one up that makes sense. I used about 3 1/2 balls of Cotton Ease in Popsicle Blue (I believe).

Last, a simple striped raglan out of leftover yarn:

Let me know what you guys think! I'll have been knitting for two years in October... Smiley
2  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Questions about writing up patterns... on: May 01, 2007 11:09:20 AM
I apologize if there is already a thread somewhere about this.

I've been designing my own sweaters and would like to write up patterns for them, but have a few questions.

Most of all, I cant help but wonder about figuring yarn amounts. do you look at what you had left and guess? Or is there some technical way to figure out how much yarn is needed for larger/smaller sizes?

And while I'm here, does anyone have any tips on writing out your patterns? I want my patterns to be readable and consise, and would welcome any tips or recommendations on the process.

Thank you in advance for your help.
3  KNITTING / Knitalongs / Seven Hour Cable Vest! Anyone with me? on: February 27, 2007 03:54:27 PM

I've been looking at this vest for awhile, lured in by the 'seven hour' part as well as my cable obsession. Anyway, I've got ten skeins of Classic Elite's Star (Cotton/Lycra blend) that seems like it would be perfect, since there's no shaping it will give the vest a little shape.

I have a feeling its going to be more of a tank top (and I plan on deepening the V neck if I can figure it out).

Anyway, anyone else want to try this one with me? Or have already knitted it? I searched around, but didn't find any FOs. I'd love to have some support.
