1  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Star Baby Blanket~Along on: March 10, 2010 07:27:17 AM
It's done!!!  I decided against the third row of purple and black, as that would make it too large for the lap/couch blanket that I want it to be.  It only took me three years!  Woo!   Grin

Must. Get. Motivated.

I want to finish this.  I really do.  I want to do 2 more changes of color (for a total of three stripes of purple), because I think stripes always look better in odd numbers.  *sigh*  I will finish it, one day.

I think I can.  I think I can. I think I can.  (The Little Engine That Could keeps popping into my head while I'm working on this thing).

HAHAHAHAHA...2 and a half years later, and I'm still not finished.  I'm working on it again now, though.  I *will* finish this silly blanket.  Smiley

ETA:  The aforementioned boyfriend is now my husband, we have a 6-month-old daughter, and his silly star is still not finished!
3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ideal characteristics of a sewing machine? on: November 17, 2007 07:08:33 PM
Shoot!  I was hoping there was one.   Smiley  I'm looking at buying my first sewing machine and was excited about maybe finding a good reference thread.

First, there are a couple threads about sewing machine brands in the tools & reccomendations board, go there for specifics: )

I can't find this board...where is it?  Thanks! Smiley

Every town is boring to some people.   Smiley

I love Savannah, and DF and I plan on living here for a long time (we've discussed retirement here, but that's a looooong way off).

I'll do a little research about when the craft fair is, and get back with you.   Smiley

When will you be here?  Or is it too late?

Sadly, the only decent yarn shop I've found near here closed down awhile back, and I didn't even get to go to the closeout sales!!!   Cry

A.C.Moore in the Savannah Mall (not the Oglethorpe Mall) has a good selection of yarns, and there is a JoAnne's and a Michael's.  I think Hancock Fabrics might have yarn, but I haven't checked.  There are several of those around.

As for thrifting, I haven't had the chance to do much of that yet.  I've only been here a year.  But, I've found awesome things in yard sales...check out the paper at www.savannahnow.com and the yard sales are in the classifieds on Friday and Saturday.  I don't know of any groups, but I might participate if I found one.  We may be moving to Richmond Hill soon (will still work in Savannah).

I'm a crocheter in my 20s, and I'd love to learn to knit.   Grin

8  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Non-Circular Handle for Fat Bottom Bag (aka FBB)? on: September 18, 2007 04:32:15 PM
I've been away from Craftster and away from crocheting for a couple of months because life just got too busy.  Well I was in the bookstore the other day, and realized that I just had to buy SnBHH.  So, I'm a third of the way through my first Fat Bottom Bag, and I have a question.

I went to the store to get handles.  I decided that I do not like the round handles, but I didn't want a shoulder strap, either.  So, I bought a pair of U-shaped handles, kind of like this:  http://www.createforless.com/products/productDetail.asp?ProductID=79011&SI=61501ee7-1bc8-4d03-b3b9-f0a0328ce286

Has anyone tried these with a FBB?  How do you attach them?  I did a search, but couldn't find anything.  Any advice would be wonderful!   Smiley
9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Love-my-job-hate-my-office swap on: July 19, 2007 05:04:08 AM

Any news?  Are we going to do this or did I miss it?  I was on vacation for a couple of weeks.  I'd love to participate.  Smiley
