21  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 34 Gallery on: May 24, 2008 01:05:02 PM
I received from sunspotted yesterday - and she said that the things she was trying out didn't work so well, so claimed me for some noro for the lizard ridge blanket instead - check this out... SIX skeins! (i only need like 7 and i have enough for the entire blanket!!)

Ally, thank you so much - this was FABULOUS!!
22  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Ongoing Wish Swap Round 34 on: May 23, 2008 01:45:52 PM
i claim pinupmommy for a yarngasm....
this is my second claim, 1 is in transit, and I'm in wisconsin.

wish list (really big wishes in bold red)!

a satchel bag like this http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer05/PATTsatchel.html  (bright colors, use up all your felting colors?)

this felted backgammon board (or something similar)  http://www.diynetwork.com/diy/na_knitting/article/0,2025,DIY_14141_5311864,00.html

i love this felted bag - http://www.talklikeapirate.com/knitlikeapirate.html

the felted monster slippers in the SNB book?

a flamenco skirt like this  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=3905.msg29436#msg29436

*** NEW *** a messenger style bag - big enough to hold my projects and all my normal purse stuff?  maybe like one of the necktie bags, or one out of felted sweaters?

can anyone figure out how to make a shrug jacket like this?  I LOVE this jacket, but this is the only picture I have of it

another big wish - the pants from Burda Pattern number 8316 - they're a pair of pants that I love - view A (long, not crops) in the smallest size (and we can talk about sizing) (I can provide pattern and fabric, I just need someone who's a better sewer than I am to actually make 'em)

this skirt - anyone think they can find a pattern and make one?  it doesn't need to be so long... mid-calf would be perfect

If anyone loves to sew, I love this skirt!  would love a soft drapey sort of fabric

a shirt like this, but long enough to tuck in - PM for sizing, please

Amy Butler Weekender bag - i'm actually needing one, and this would be a great bag to pack my stuff in!

a small, simple stained glass window in the style often found at the flea market, along these lines:  http://www.robomargo.com/Dscn1137.jpg

*** NEW *** if we have any potters - a bowl or two, or cups?

stained glass pendant or bracelet, especially if it was dragonfly or butterfly or iris

some sort of artwork for my bedroom?  it's all in oceany type colors, could be art, a collage, a quilted wall hanging...

*** NEW *** embellished / stencilled hoodie - dragonflies, irises?  adult size medium (i like them big and comfy, and preferably pull over, not zipped)

hand-spun yarn

Noro Kureyon - if you have any leftovers in your stash, i'm trying to collect enough to make lizard ridge - only need 7 more skeins!  <<<--- thanks, Sunspotted!

*** NEW *** hand painted yarn - if you love to hand paint yarn, and have bare DK weight, i could really use 880 yards (generally 2 skeins?) in some blues/greens hand painted something, or 1200 yards in a laceweight?  i can dye the yarn, but i haven't gotten up the courage to try to do with the paint brush yet!

crafting supplies:
  • NON-Koolaid dyes for bare yarn
  • bare yarn in a fingering/DK weight or laceweight
  • chunky weight wool - it's not like thick n quick, and it's not  like regular wool - it's somewhere in between, with a gauge of about 3-4 st. / 1 inch on about #8-10 needles...  anyway, in white, dark blue, forest green, deep purple, chocolate brown, something like that?

Knitting and crocheting books - if one of these is just taking up space, I'd love to get a copy:
  • Twinkle's Big City Knits: 31 Chunky-Chic Designs
  • *** NEW *** Knitting Circles Around Socks: Knit Two at a Time on Circular Needles
  • *** NEW ***   Favorite Socks: 25 Timeless Designs from Interweave

Whatever you're really good at - my wist, and my list, are a good indication of the sort of things I like - if there's something you're really good at, and you think I might like it, feel free to plan a surprise - truly, when people make things in friendship, they're received that way, too
something inspired by my wist  http://www.wists.com/Dulcinea

kandy kakes!!  Now that I have a decent supply of devil dogs, I think i need more chocolate kandy kakes (they don't sell them in wisconsin)! (if you don't know what they are, you probably can't get them by you)  and thanks to everyone who sent me devil dogs!!

and if i stall out the swap, someone yell at me, and i'll add more stuff.

... right... about me.  I'm the REALLY old lady in the crowd (somehow, those AARP mailings aren't quite so funny anymore!), the one peering over the bifocals.  I have 1 teenager at home, and my day job is a computer programmer.  I have no allergies except MRI dye, nickel (easy on the jewelry stuff, folks) and a couple of antibiotics,  no issues with animal products, would prefer to avoid religion/religious articles and politics at all costs.... my favorite colors are the saturated jewel tones, think ruby, sapphire, emerald... i don't do terribly well with pastels.  We live in an apartment, where space is always at a premium... so small things that sit on tables and shelves and don't do anything except collect dust aren't a great thing here.

Thanks in advance to anyone who chooses me
23  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Re: How do I join a swap if they all require you to have already done 2 before? on: May 17, 2008 07:41:14 PM
that's the requirement to be an organizer, not a participant.
24  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: A gallery for a swap for knitters!!! on: May 16, 2008 01:19:13 PM
i got a box today.  a BIG box.  from norway.  Srylig lives in norway.  did you know that?   Grin
ok, so i open the box, which just about exploded at me!

and on top was this........

isn't that a pretty bag?  i love the green checked lining, and there's a pocket in there, and it closes with velcro, and and and....... and i already have 2 sets of sock yarn in there, for some projects I promised, as well as working out a sock pattern for a contest.  if i win, that's gonna be a whole lotta yarn......

and inside the bag was.......

this amazing fully lined zip pouch just perfect for my tiny snips, my stitch markers, all those little things you lose all the time! AND 2 sets of double pointed needles...... she must have heard about the contest to make socks......

and speaking of a whole lotta yarn........

there was some yarn in the box.   Grin

there was felting wool........ (and check out the twisty skeins, those are handspun, i think!)

and there was some sock yarn (she must have heard about the contest)

and some garn studio cotton.....

and then some mystery yarn (that's what srylig called it!)

i'm in yarn heaven, with a bag to carry some of it in! (cause there's no WAY it'll all fit in that bag!).  Syrlig put little tags with the different yarns, to help me know which ones were feltable, which ones were superwash, all of that kind of stuff...

Syrlig, thank you so much - this was great fun to receive today!

26  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: A swap for Knitters! CLOSED send out 5/7 on: May 16, 2008 06:35:34 AM
mine appears to be correct - norway received from wisconsin, wisconsin is still waiting for package from norway

maybe in the next couple of days?  i thought we both sent within a couple of days of each other
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Over 30 Fine Wine Geezer Swap Round 2 on: May 15, 2008 03:16:50 PM
i looked up the last one
and i don't know that there are 5 things i can do well
(i mean, that are trade-able on craftster, if you get my drift  Wink Grin Cheesy)
do i have to have 5 different ones, or can i make a slightly different purse or something?

well, it was really so that i had a bunch of options with which to pair people up - so at least if there are a couple of things you do well.... and that could be like.. knitted purse.... knitted shawl.... they don't have to be 5 different crafting techniques, since i'm mostly a 2-trick pony, but at least a couple of different types of things, so that i can match people up.
28  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Over 30 Fine Wine Geezer Swap Round 2 on: May 14, 2008 06:32:06 PM
this would be the second round.

you need to be over 30, and you need to have been in at least 1 swap prior.
and you make one really big thing for your recipient, and someone makes you one really big thing.
look up the other one, we had a blast
29  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Over 30 Fine Wine Geezer Swap - Sign-ups CLOSING EARLY ON 1/11!! on: May 13, 2008 07:47:16 PM
at this point, it looks like people are kind of booked up through june, so i'm thinking sign ups in july, send outs in august?

sorry it's being put off so long, but it's way more fun with a ton of people in it!
30  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Over 30 Fine Wine Geezer Swap Round 2 on: May 13, 2008 10:09:07 AM
that could be a possibility, too...

anyone else?  how about july sign ups and august crafting?  finish up when the kids go to school?
