1  Washington / Washington: West / Sewing Classes Olympia/Lacey/Tacoma on: March 15, 2013 11:52:07 PM
I've been trying to learn how to sew for forever and would like to just take a class now. Can anyone recommend a good place near the Olympia/Lacey/Tacoma area that isn't too expensive? I live in Lacey but willing to travel. Thanks!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Hot-Fix Questions on: November 14, 2010 08:28:18 PM
Is it possible to make my own hot-fix stones, studs, etc?

Where is the best place to buy hot-fix supplies? Iwas looking on ebay but I'm not sure how to tell the quality. I'm looking for stones, studs, etc.

I had more questions but it's late and I forget now, lol.

3  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Where to Start (been asking myself for 5 years) on: July 05, 2010 09:32:14 AM
I've been trying to sew for at least 5 years now but always get in a rut and get stuck. My aunt helped me make a bag and a skirt but they were ugly, lol. So, that didn't really help. I go to the fabric store and look and stuff for over and hour and still can't find something of interest. Maybe I'm overwhelmed? I just need to make something to learn the basics and move on to the next step. Any suggestions? I was thinking of taking a sewing course at Joann's or another local place.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Building A Drawing/Drafting Table on: March 16, 2009 12:30:44 PM
Has anyone ever built a drawing/drafting table? I have been searching online forever and can't find any blueprints or plans! Sad
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / How much yarn do I need? on: March 30, 2007 06:45:07 AM
Hi, I would appreciate anyones help with this. I'm just going to make my own double crochet blanket/afghan with some Lion Brand Homespun. I can't find any pattern that use this type of yarn and a basic double crochet pattern. I'm just going to do black and red strips with each ball of yarn. I'm using a 10mm hook.

How much yarn do you figure I need to make a decent sized blanket/afghan for 1 person?

I forgot to ask how many I should chain as well.
6  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Neopolitan wristwarmer & Scarf - 1st completes! on: March 25, 2007 08:31:01 PM
I FINALLY finished something!

I have hear a scarf (just in time for spring, haha!)and one wrist warmer. The other will be completed, hopefully tomorrow.

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Crocheting with AD/HD on: March 21, 2007 06:42:52 PM
I just learned to crochet recently, and I'm loving it.

The set back? AD/HD! I can't focus on a project. I keep getting bored of it, and start a new project either with a differently colour of yarn, or a new pattern.

I really, really want to finish something! Any suggestions for some quick, easy patterns for a person who has a small attention span, the inability to stay still for long periods of time, and gets all frustrated and unmotivated very easily? Or even some suggests from others with AD/HD who find a way to finishing a crochet project without almost pulling their hair out?!  Cheesy

Thanks a bunch!
8  CANADA / Ontario / Crochet hook kit - Toronto, ON on: March 16, 2007 06:29:47 AM
Hey there, does anyone know where I can get a cheap crochet hook kit in Toronto? Michaels is waaayyy too far for me, it's in Woodbridge. Sad Walmart is also too far. I live in the Bathurst/Eglinton so anything near there or even downtown is fine.

I'm from a suburban town, new to Toronto. I mis my suburban shopping!
9  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Retail manager/owner help on: January 27, 2007 03:30:22 PM
I would love if a store manager or owner could help me out with some questions I have about the retail business. I'm going to be opening my own craft workshop cafe and looking for some wise words of wisdom.

Thank you so much for your help!

1.)   What is the single most important thing to know about in retail?

2.)   What high tech communication, informations systems are used by your company currently?

3.)   Define leadership?

4.)   In your eyes what are key areas that effect profitability?

5.)   How do you assess/evaluate your employees. How often?  What criteria?
10  CANADA / Ontario / LF: Toronto Crafters and Crafty Business People on: January 21, 2007 02:28:54 PM
Hello dear Torontonians!

I will be moving to Toronto in April/May with often visits in between (my bf just got a job there and I plan on visiting a bit before I can get there... I have to finish college). I'm looking for some people to hang out with, show me the town, the crafty sites and scenes.

I am currently in Ottawa and have been bread and raised by suburbians. When I visited Toronto for the first time last week, I was overwhelmed. I'm also hearing alot of things about the fact that crafty stores like Michael's are hard to come by because they are in the 'burbs and far away from Toronto.

Please help me out! I'm also going to be opening a business in the DIY craft field and have no idea how the city would like it and where to put it.

FYI: I will moving into the Eglinton/Bathurst area.

Thanks so much!
