21  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Re: ALICEINMYWONDERLAND on: November 04, 2005 12:15:37 PM
My roommate had a bit of an Alice theme to her last birthday party. She took every teacup in our house, filled them all with bulk candy, and set them all over the mantlepiece. It looked pretty awesome. I would also suggest making a sign that says "Don't step on the mome-raths" and stick it somewhere random for people to stumble across. Smiley My ex has one in his backyard.

Have fun! Sounds like a great idea.

This TOTALLY reminds me of the Simpsons episode where Marge buys the Chanel dress and then keeps recon-ing it. Good job!

Oh man, I don't have time to read this now, but I've gotta be involved because I AM a pinup girl.... I mean, it's an art project, but they're really well done and very cool. YAY! I'll read the rest of this later.l

I just finished all my stuff this morning, so excited! My mom wants to see it, and then I'm packing it up. By the way StarSix, my fellow Canadian... I'll be sending it a day late as the send-by date is Thanksgiving so there'll be no post! Smiley

Yay! First swap! I've already made something, but I'll get to keep it if my partner isn't the right size/female/a crossdresser.

27  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Concert tees into one wicked skirt??? on: August 26, 2005 09:27:36 AM
Hi all!

I've got a big ol' pile of Barenaked Ladies concert tees that I LOVE but never wear because I'm not really a t-shirt person. I've been planning for a long time to combine them all into a skirt, but haven't been able to decide on the best way. Right now, I'm thinking about making a waistband from stretchy material (probably the bottom of one of the BNL t-shirts), then cutting the pictures from the tees into long strips and sewing them around the waistband to make a long skirt. I was even thinking of cutting them in the shape of ties to make a cool zigzaggy bottom. Does this make sense to anyone? Does anyone have any better ideas/threads discussing this?

28  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: i got kicked out and my boyfreinds family is taking me in on: August 21, 2005 11:28:17 PM
My brother's girlfriend (ex now)  lived with him and my folks for a couple of months while she was trying to find a place. She was not pleasant to have there, and not just because she was a twit who ended up cheating on him with 3 guys in one week (I know, I know). Before all the... ahem... unpleasantness, they thought she was nice enough, but very inconsiderate. She sort of took things for granted... free laundry and food, leaving her crap around, not showing any initiative in finding a job or a new place. That's my advice to you... THINK. If his mom says she's got to stop for groceries after work, offer to do it for her. If you notice the flowers need watering, do it. Just spend a few minutes every day thinking about what would be nice for them, and I'm sure they'll appreciate it very much. Best of luck!
29  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Don't it make my blonde hair blue...? on: August 21, 2005 04:58:03 PM
OK, so I've got really long blonde hair. It's what I guess you would call golden blonde... I've been dying to do the underpart of my hair blue for ages, but I'm afraid : if I use permanent blue dye, I won't be able to get rid of the colour without dying my entire head. If I use semi-permanent, I'm afraid it'll stain my hair and again, I'll have to dye my whole head. I guess I could just suck it up and do that. Smiley

ANYway, I'm just wondering if any blondies out there have died their hair blue, and if so, what did you use/how did it look/etc? Bear in mind that I'm in Canada... we should get all the saem products as the US more or less, but perhaps not the UK. Although I'll be in Paris for a week in September...

SO IN!! Yay! I've never swapped before, but I've posted a few things I've made, so I hope that's enough proof that I DO actually make things fairly well. I'm a bit of a Potter-holic... I lent out HP6 after reading it and then promptly had to borrow another copy because I couldn't be without it but didn't want to flake on the borrower.

ANYway... I'm in. I'll pop in again Aug. 29.
