1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / beaded Chinese thimble-catcher on: December 30, 2006 10:59:52 PM

This piece was for my sister for Christmas. The Chinese character means "happiness". I wrote a little making of post  that can be viewed here: http://www.beadcircle.com/blog/?p=109. She loves Oriental designs and patterns, and the colors red and black. Ive made her some beaded jewelry in the past, but I wanted to make her something really special. When I saw this design, I knew it was meant for her. I changed the color scheme, and designed the fringe and neckstrap. It is done in tubular peyote stitch with size 11/0 Japanese delica seed beads. The lid slides on and off. I call it the Pursuit of Happiness Smiley
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / "Tool" and Checkered Lighter Covers on: December 13, 2006 09:11:21 AM

Here are the lighter covers I've been working on. The black and white one was done in 2 drop peyote, so the process of making it went quickly. It's my prototype in a way, but I also couldn't part with it. The "tool" lighter was a commission by a friend of my fiance. He's a fan of the band and wanted one too. I had to use regular peyote to make the letters look right. I got $20 for it though Smiley and I like challenges!
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Flowers with hidden pens on: November 15, 2006 09:13:27 AM
I got a flower pot, some paint, pens, floral tape, and some fake flowers and made this fun arrangment for my mom's desk at work that is in desparate need of color:

and they are all functional pens  Cheesy

Here's one with purple roses (with dew drops) for myself. The quote I wrapped around it says "If you ask me what I have come to do in this world, I who am an artist, I will reply:I am here to live me life out loud!" -Emile Zola
Bic makes pens that write in purple now, so that is what I used, and flowers are half off at Hobby Lobby this week  Grin

4  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / our painted pumpkins (mine's Buddhist) on: October 14, 2006 09:51:13 AM
Mine's Buddhist because of the black outline of the eyes and the black swirl. "Buddha's eyes" are carved into many temples in eastern europe.

My fiance and I have craft time every week, and here's what we did this week. He sits at a computer all day, so I think its a good creative outlet for both of us (I work with tiny beads all day). They are probably going to sit outside and greet trick or treaters. Hope you like them!
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Medicine Wheel necklace on: October 11, 2006 07:29:42 PM

I just finished this for a necklace swap. I used a turquoise medicine wheel (also called donuts) and peyote stitched a band to make a pendant. The chain part of the necklace is a spiral rope of delicas: size 11/o in turquoise gold and black, and some black size 8s. This is my first post, so thanks for looking = )
