I'm new to crochet and I was just wondering what sort of projects you all suggest for practice.  My goal is to start making amigurumi dolls so with that in mind are some projects better than others?

We're all a bit over the top and ridiculous.  The goofier the project the better.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Gifts for roommates? SUGGESTIONS PLEASE on: June 27, 2007 03:02:05 PM
I'm going back to college soon and I wanted to make something for my roomates.  I'm just looking for some suggestiongs on crafts I could make for them.  I was thinking of making some small stuffed animals maybe for them to fiddle with while studying.

It could be anything really though.  What other suggestions do you all have?

This is great, thank you all so much.  I think I'll do the trial version of the PC Stitch.

I'm no stranger to the counted cross stitch but I now I'm half way through my first project of my own design.  For the project I'm working on now I just drew an outline on the material and stitched.

It's simple enough but i would like to put my designs on a counted x-stitch so that the results are more consistant and looks more neat.  What is a good method of putting an image on a grid for stitching?

Has anybody found X-stitch patterns for toadstool?
8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / So much floss... on: July 28, 2006 09:50:03 AM
I just found a whole bunch of floss from years ago.  I have many different colors but not a whole lot of each color.

I was just looking for a project to use them up with, it doesn't necessarily have to be embroidery.  Any input is appreciated.  Also, I might consider embroidering something but I've never done it w/o a guide.  Help?  What can I embroider?
