At least one item MUST be handmade - and all 5pts worth of items can be handmade if you wish.  The items sent must either include a mushroom and/or a gnome.. 5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Pinup fabric used as an embroidery pattern.. on: July 27, 2010 07:37:51 PM
ok so I angeled a package for a friend on a swap she was hosting.. it was pin up girl aprons.. and I got this awesome fabric online and this was one of the girls on the fabric:

So I made an apron out it.. and I needed to make another item to go with it.. so I thought.. use the lightbox and the scrap with the pin up girl.. and try to make an embroidery pattern out of it.. it all worked well except for the face.. I just couldn't seem to get it right.. then I had issues with the hair so I decided to do some raised embroidery stitches in different parts of the picture to make it stand out.. like the bullion knots for hair, french knots in the lai on her neck, and satin stitches of her bathing suit.. all in all I am pleased, but will hopefully get better at doing the face part.. I think had it been a printed picture I would've had better luck - rather than using a colored piece of fabric..

8  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / for the love of trees on: July 13, 2010 07:27:12 PM
the little oil spill in my neck of the woods has had me thinking of the environment and what we need to do to be good stewards of what God have given us... and it's showing up in my embroidery.. this is my own design.. I call it "for the love of trees".. I used chain stitch for the outline of the tree and branches.. long and short stitch for the fill in of the trunk.. french and bullion knots for the fill in of the green portion of the tree:

9  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Stitchalongs / Teesha Moore Type Journal.. anyone want to play?? on: July 09, 2010 04:29:11 PM
I have all my mini pillows ready to be embroidered and embellished and put together into a journal based on Teesha's tutorials found here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cm4RoEsgl0&feature=related  I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in stitching along with me and make their own teesha moore journal?? Here's the cover of one I did for my daughters bday:

10  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / freeform embroidery tote on: July 09, 2010 02:13:57 PM
i had been admiring Jacque Davis' freeform embroidery on flickr and decided to try it myself.. it was a lot of fun.. and I made it into my craft and go tote... I usually don't sell my embroidery b/c most ppl couldn't or wouldn't afford what I would have to charge for the amount of hours put into it..
