31  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Has anyone seen a pattern for a sweater like this? on: August 04, 2006 12:06:32 PM
That's a cute sweater but I kinda wanted a big sweater for when it gets chilly. I think maybe I could use the pattern you suggested but just add to it to make it tunic length and then get creative to add the neck portion... or just buy the thing!
Thanks for your response!!

my 2 cents - if you think you'll wear it, keep on! If you think you'll end up stashing it in the back of the closet, start again.
maybe someone at your knit club can help you? or just put it away for a bit and work on your other projects Smiley
Earlier this year I was working on 2 sweaters, I'd ditch it when I got sick of the color and pick up the second one till I got sick of that one. It took way too long to make them but I was happy with my sweater when it was done and my sister loved hers... trying to keep your spirits lifted Smiley
33  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: A good knitting magazine on: August 03, 2006 04:09:27 PM
It is annoying that they would promote their own yarn but I guess if they're paying for the magazine to be made, they should promote their own stuff.
In ref. to your comment about the quality of yarns in the 3 different magazines, I think they're trying to appeal to all people just like the Gap.
They have Old Navy which is easy on the wallet, Gap that's middle of the road and then Banana Republic which is more pricey. I don't care who's magazine it is, so long as I feel my money is well spent.

It's probably cheaper to buy it than to make it but I'd love to try!
Has anyone seen a pattern for a sweater like this?
Thanks for your help Smiley

did you check out Moda Dea's website?
Lion brand has one (town and Country?) that I made for my niece and she loved it, it's knit on circular needles, hope that helps Smiley

37  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Bipolar Knitters? on: July 27, 2006 03:24:44 PM
not to get off the bipolar subject but, you might want to check out knitting shops, some will put your projects (sweaters, tanks, whatever) together for a fee  Grin

I took a knitting class a couple of years ago and with the recent rash of pregnancies in my sisters circle of friends, I remembered mentioning it to a few ladies that were at the same table as me.
My instructor & the owner of the yarn shop kinda rolled their eyes. I wasn't sure if they rolled their eyes at me or the project Smiley So I just thought I'd ask if anyones donated and the outcome. Would you ever know if your blanket went to a family?

Has anyone donated hand knit/crochet baby blankets to Project Linus?

I loved the summer issue of Knit1! Easy to read patterns & easily accessible yarn.
Instead of getting a subscription to a magazine, create your own "book", just buy a binder and whenever you come across something you like on line, print it out and put it in your binder.
Knitty.com has some cool patterns that are free (bad penny was my first sweater).
If there's something I like in a magazine, I'll rip it out and laminate it (I'm a nerd), hole punch it & put it in the binder.
