1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: T-Shirt Quilt - featuring horses! on: December 30, 2009 10:01:35 AM
The only special thing I did was put some interfacing on the back of the middle square so I could embroider her name on it. Other than that, I pretty much followed directions from a few different sites and the Generation T recon book. I think the hardest part for me was getting the squares the same size and lining them up properly!

I hadn't seen the t-shirt quilt thread; of course I should have checked here first! If I end up doing another one, I'll be sure to look!

Wow, thanks for the quick replies! It is definitely a great way to use up old tshirts; I'm even thinking of making one myself for my old high-school event t's. And because it's made with tshirts, it's super soft! Hopefully the next one I make won't be so off-center ...   Grin

This is my first ever quilt-like project, and I cringe a little bit putting it next to the fabulous quilts shown here! It's a t-shirt quilt, made from my younger sister's outgrown horse shirts that she couldn't bear to get rid of.

I used some batting leftover from another project, and backed it with a brown bedsheet (because brown is a horse color, of course). It's machine sewn, but then I hand-embroidered the details on each square that has a picture on it.

4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Ohm Sweet Ohm on: January 05, 2009 07:12:42 AM
Thanks everybody! It was a fairly quick project, although I was using those needles that have the eye in the center of the needle, and I kept squeezing too tight and breaking them!

For her birthday I'm thinking of doing something with pi ...

After a long hiatus from Craftster, I'm back with a Christmas gift I stitched for my sister. She is a math major, and I thought this pun was too clever to pass up. It's a reference to our high school math teacher, who would make corny jokes like "Ohm Ohm on the range". I used a chart generator for the word (which I for some insane reason did not bookmark), and I free-handed the Ohm symbols based on several images I found using Google.

Wow, the blending between colors is perfect! You did that by combining strands of the two yarns? It's amazing!
