1  Re: from records to ipods swap gallery in The Swap Gallery by ShaynaYasha on: October 16, 2007 04:43:04 PM
I see that Kitschkween got her package, so I thought I'd post a few pics... If you have better ones Kit, I'd love to see them  Cheesy

~Here's the group shot.  I know...you're thinking.."What?"... Let me x-plain...

~This is a silver chocker necklace that I made from the knob of an old record player that I had. **I almost kept this for myself...but that's not the craftster way  Tongue **

~What was that 8 track tape that you saw???  Why it's a compact mirror case...perfect size for lip gloss and face powders.

I did alot of Dremil-ing & hinging on that   Grin

~A cassette tape zipper wallet.  I got the general idea from a thread on craftsters, but I added my own flare.

~A Jody Watley 45 record, sliced, diced & rivited into a notebook *there is a record on the back, also*

~An abstract Headphones Art piece. *it's abstract because I pained it with my eyes closed & with my left hand...I'm a righty*

~And my piece-de-resistance.... My version of a record purse...

Both records (front & back are riveted [did I metion I'm addicted to rivets lately?]) and I used (brand new) patent leather thin belts as straps.
Inside view.

Ta-dah.  I hope you like everything Kitschkween.  This swap was a total blast.  Right up my alley.   Wink

Wow...everything looks great!!!!  I heard from k^2 last night.  She recv'd her package so I figured I'd post some pics...

Group shot of what I made her (minus the candles)

wine charms

stationary that opens to the side with rivets.... I'm really into rivets lately...

Drink coasters.  There's so many coats of polycoat on them that they'll outlast the next ice age...

Waterproof & Heat proof trivets / hotplates.  They can also be used as coasters as well.

a felt black cat bag

This felt red devil bag is my favorite

and some home-made blood-dripping candles.

I hope you enjoy everything k^2.  I had a blast crafting for this one.  I love Hallowe'en   Grin

4  Ouija Board Notebook / Journal in CHALLENGE 21 ENTRIES by ShaynaYasha on: October 04, 2007 10:41:50 AM
This is the Ouija Board notebook that I made for DropDeadSuzie
for a Board Game swap that just finished.  I used all the pieces... both the board AND the oracle  Tongue ... wow... a Parker Brothers game with just 2 pieces.... what a stretch.... but you can't say I didn't use everything  LOL  Cheesy

Here's a pic of the front.  I bound the sides with a thick seam binding because for the life of me, I couldn't find book binding tape.  But it worked.  I drilled in hinges & polished off the ends where the screws stuck out with my Dremel (tip: wear goggles & long sleeves... metal shavings are HOT)

I lined the inside with Scrabble Paper & attached the oracle, which I lined with a cool game piece fabric, & wa-la... instant pencil holder.  I recycled an old notebook 3 ring part & again drilled that in & Dremeled off the excess screw parts (Again... I wish I was wearing sleeves)

Here are some better shots that DropDeadSuzie had taken...

Wow...great stuff you got there, Crystal.. I heard from DropDeadSuzie, who is, unfortunately, a little under the weather, so I will post some picks of what I sent her.  I didn't take pics of the Candyland magnets & my pics of the jewelry box are not the best, so hopefully when she is up & running again, she can add some more....  Here we go:

A Ouija board notebook made from a, well, Ouija board.

The inside.  I used the whatcha-ma-call-it (oracle?) as a pencil holder, backed with boardgame fabric, lined the book with Scrabble paper & recycled a 3-ring binder for the "guts.  *quick note : when using a Dremil to drill off the excess metal in the hinges & screws...WEAR SLEEVES!!! ouch*

Reversable Game fabric tote bag

Closeup of fabric

A "Brought back to life" jewelry box that I basically had to reconstruct from scratch.  The wood & I had different views on the end result.... but she with the power tools wins.....

The top of the box is decoupaged with Monopoly paper, Micro Beadz & 10 coats of Polycoat.... I don't know what those shadows are though...  Tongue  Just shadows.

Inside lined with Politically Correct Faux-Fur

and a Candyland necklace I made using Polymer clay and some cool rubbery beads on the bottom (which are not really visible)

I hope she likes and enjoys everything I made for her.  This swap was a blast.  I'm up for Round 2.   Grin

7  Re: Rockabilly Swap 2 Gallery!!!!! in The Swap Gallery by ShaynaYasha on: July 12, 2007 06:15:36 AM
OK... Drag0nMuse got her package last night, so I'll post some pics.  Here's what my brain came up with:

I noticed on her wist list that she wanted a train case for all her Burlesque accessories... so I came up with this...
This was a recon old train case...I can't find the "Before" shots on my computer, but imagine an old burgandy suitcase on it's last limb... and after some mad scientist work...

Closup of the rhinestone work.  I got the ideas from an embroidary kit & I free handed the desings

The inside.  Gotta love the Be-Dazzler   Tongue

PS... The inside satin... recon of an old Bridesmaid dress LOL Grin  Waste not, Want not.
A Cherry Cassette wallet (idea from Craftsters.org)  Smiley

And some Flamed-Out Cocktail glasses & Dice wine charms.  Note: Drag0nMuse... if you look on the bottom of the glasses, you will see that I origanally did them in glas paint, but I didn't care for the way they came out, so I gave Polymer Clay a try.   Grin

I hope you enjoy everything.   Kiss

9  Recon Train Case in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ShaynaYasha on: June 15, 2007 06:59:46 AM
Here's another item I gave in a swap & figured you may enjoy peeping at (at least I hope so)  Undecided  I've been making these for years.  I LOVE the idea of using old train cases when traveling.  I scour the thrft shops & Goodwill & pick 'em up whenever I come across them.  Of course I didn't take before pics *slaps self on forehead*  but image an ugly 70's mustard yellow case...yeah...that's it... And this is what I ended up with.

Sorry for the blurry pic.  My partner was into skulls & piratey things...

The back.

The inside top... I swear those elastics are even... Just a bad angle

And the inside side & bottom.

There you have it.  Grin  Thanx for peeping  Shocked
