1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / TuTu <3 on: March 04, 2010 05:32:03 PM
My daughter recently turned 1 and i decided it was time for her to have a pretty tutu. So, after a trip to walmart and seeing all the cute tutu's and how expensive they were i decided i would make my own.
didnt get in progress pics . it was kind of a spur of the moment "i have all the stuff to make it!" kind of things.
used: ribbon, different fabrics, button, elastic, & sewing machine.

don't mind the stray threads that i need to cut.

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / robot in distress! on: December 01, 2009 05:00:59 PM
I've been on a "making things out of electronics parts" kick lately. Today I made this cute little guy. He is made of parts from an old broken VCR, an old photo keychain {just the shell, i took out everything that was inside} , a ring and a little piece of paper, oh and a piece of cord from a cell phone ear piece that i never used.
I put it all together with a glue gun.. so I'm not sure how well it will hold everything..
closeup of face:   [the button on his chest is also pressable!]

the legs. which are uneven but i got lazy and impatient:

action shot!:

i think i may hang him up on my rearview mirror ...hm..
3  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Rabbit for the Hippie on: November 13, 2009 03:41:41 PM
After making a stuffed rabbit for my daughter my cousin decided she wanted one. She's kindof a hippie so I used some tye dye fabric i had. I think it turned out pretty good.

4  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Rabbit for my baby. on: November 10, 2009 11:38:19 AM
So I was thinking the other day that I havn't given my daughter anything from myself really, except for life of course, but i wanted her to have something that I made her to keep as a keepsake and maybe give to her future children. So I decided to make her a rabbit. [because i play a Velveteen Rabbit audio tape for her sometimes, and I loved that story as a kid]
It's not the best, and my first real attempt at any kind of stuffed animal/doll.
I made it out of fabric, buttons, some stuffing stuff from an old comforter, and a bag of mixed beans  ( for the legs to help it sit up)

Here is just the head when i started. [sorry for bad pics. using camera phone because we lost our camera on halloween  Sad  ]

The button that I used for the "tail"

The buttons i used for eyes have flowers and leaves. And the fabric, though you probably can't tell, is like a floral/leaves pattern

I also sewed a button like the eyes onto the inside of one of the ears in case it loses an eye.

I'm proud of it, even though it has tiny arms.   Cheesy
5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My record purse. <3 on: December 19, 2008 08:01:16 PM
I bought a bunch of vinyl records from a thrift store to make record bowls for christmas presents.
I had a few left over and I decided I wanted to make a purse because i've seen them around the site and i've always wanted to make one. as a christmas present for my
best friend of course.
I tried to take pictures of the process. I forgot to get one of it in the oven though.
I was going to try the mod record purse tutorial i've seen but I didn't have a way of cutting the records, so I decided i'd just figure out something as I went along . It took a few tries of putting it back in the oven and reshaping it to get it to the shape i wanted.

after i got it the shape i wanted and had just started sewing on one of the side pieces.
made the holes for sewing by heating a needle , very time consuming, but easy.

almost finished.

my kitties admiring the purse. and you can sortof see how i sewed a button to cover the hole in the bottom

sewed on the straps and i'm done! yes those are chess pieces, put a hole in the top
of them by again heating a needle.

and being that my friend loves pandas because her name is amamda i made her
a little panda to match the purse. [clay, acrylic paint, and sealer.. and buttons]
Hope you like it Smiley
now i'm going to make one for myself.
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / help! artificial tree stand? on: November 25, 2007 01:39:30 PM
Well we drug out our little artificial tree from the basement for christmas to find: the stand is missing! Supposively my boyfriend got the tree from his sister and forgot to ask her if there was anything missing.

I was wondering if there's any way I can go about making a stand for it rather than buying one?
Right now we have it sitting in an upside down crate but it falls over if we barely touch it, and that's no good since we have a frisky kitty that likes to play with everything.

any ideas?
7  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Cliche!<3 on: January 21, 2007 03:47:32 PM
I'm sure everyone's seen this stencil before.
but i saw it and felt i had to put it on something.
The H is a little messed up because part of it accidently got cut off and i forgot to put it back where it needed to go before i started putting the paint over the stencil. and i cut it out a bit differently. I also added the top part, this started out as a plain white shirt and i cut off the top and sewed on part of a red shirt that i never wear.
me wearing it:

8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Tiny Terror Shirt. <3 on: December 30, 2006 06:28:42 PM
It started out as a plain white, little boy's Large T-shirt.
I had some fabric paint so i thought hmmm .
and i stenciled my nickname [Tiny Terror] on the front,
and then resized it to fit me.

then i thought. this still just doesn't look right to me.
so i then cut off the top of it and took material i had left over from
a blanket my cousin made me [and gave me the rest of the material]
and this is what came of it.

9  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / Tiny Terror Shirt. <3 on: December 30, 2006 06:24:27 PM
i bought a pack of little boys Large plain white shirts at walmart.
and a bunch of fabric paint. i used to stencil all the time and then stopped for a while because i got busy with school and everything.
to make the blue like that i put some blue fabric paint in a little squirt bottle with a little bit of water and then just sprayed it on the shirt and added some stars around it. then with a letter stencil i got from walmart i put my nickname [Tiny Terror]

then. i cut off the top and and took material i had left over from
a blanket my cousin made me [and gave me the rest of the material]
and this is what came of it.

10  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / broken. + hearts. on: July 31, 2006 06:34:46 PM
I've seen this image before. But I didn't have a way to print it out
so i drew the jar myself. and used a hole punch i have shaped like
a heart to make the stencil.
close up:

almost the whole shirt:

I think it turned out pretty good
I might put more hearts below it or write something
to make the placement not look so strange though.
at least.. it looks strange to me.   Undecided
