12  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Why are you Vegetarian/Vegan? on: June 16, 2007 11:37:05 PM
I've been lacto-ovo since I was 12 - I'm now 15. It was a combination of meat making me feel physically ill, guilty and generally gross that convinved me to never eat it again. After three years, my little brother and mum are both vegetarian too, which makes meals easy. Unfortunately, my completely carnivorous older brother continues to insist that he needs meat to live, so he still waves his steak in front of my face with real class.

Has anybody read Animal Liberation by Peter Singer? Anybody considering going vegetarian who isn't quite convinced should definitely check it out. So should anyone who doesn't really know their own reasons for being vege. Actually, everyone should.

It's kinda canvassy/thick cotton. I winged it, which took a long time but it turned out quite well. It's like... two rectangles for the top bit, then two huge rectangles with pleats for the bottom bit. I am very vague.

Hello world of Craftster!

I used to be madcore active here, but I took a very long break. I'M BACK! BAM!

Crafting escapades over the past few months:

Here we have a pilot's thumb, wrecked as he did homeward come. I mean, a wall hanging pattern that I bought last halloween and made into a skirt.

Aaaaaand I made a skirt a little shorter than the above one from this fabric:

It's vintage, 1930's reproduction fabric. I got less than a meter of if and had to be super careful.

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand, my Belle & Sebastian tshirt. The tshirt is from a little boys clothing store (there are advantages to being tiny!) and the print is one of their old tour posters that I altered slightly and made an iron-on with.

The iron-on, however, sucked ass, and has cracked and flaked after 2 wears.

Iiiiii also made this skirt:

from some really grossly awesome fabric I got for $2/meter. THERE GOES MY CAMERA AGAIN. It's so modern it hurts. Ow.

Here we have (sadly) the only half-decent photo I can find of the black pinafore dress I made:

(And my super rad pink skinny jeans!)

SO YEAH. There's more that I am too lazy to photograph/upload. Next on the menu is many stencilled/screened tshirts. Give me ideas!

Hello world!
You all seem really awesome, but I'm too scared to message any of you due to my immsense lameness. So here goes.
My name is Georgia, and I can lick my elbow. No jokes! I live in Christchurch, New Zealand. I live in the bush, wear a grass skirt, and club people with big sticks. It's a good life. I'm fourteen, which is horrible. I like really obscenely good music. Fionn Regan, The Chalets, The Rapture, Regina Spektor, Belle & Sebastian, Mates Of State, Los Campesinos!, Emily Haines (in her various forms), Cansei De Ser Sexy, Winterkids, The Blow, Camera Obscura, The Wombats, The Snow Fairies, Detektivbyrn, Hello Saferide, so forth. I also like books (David Levithan and Rainer Maria Rilke) and movies (The History Boys, Wizard Of Oz and Ghost World). I also also like hoarding things, Married To The Sea, sending complete strangers gibberish using predictive text and stalking scene kids on Myspace. I sew a lot, and make jewelry too. I work in a bead shop, which is infinitely cool. When I'm not working, I'm playing Pokemon on Gameboy Colour. Modern! My ultimate aim in life is to own a 'Geology Rocks!' tshirt, even though I don't like geology.
So yeah.
