91  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Matt's Mitts on: April 22, 2007 07:09:14 PM
I promised my husband a pair gloves this Christmas and here they are, fresh off the needles.  They're just a couple months late for winter. Roll Eyes

They're my own design, with inspiration from Elizabeth Zimmerman and Knitty's Broadstreet mittens.

More details and pics here.

92  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Clapotis question on: April 21, 2007 12:50:02 AM
I'm trying to decide what to make the moms (mine and my MIL) for Mother's day and I was thinking that they might like shawls.  I live in a different town than they do and I was planning to bring their gifts when I come to visit at the end of May.  Would I be crazy to try to knit two of clapotises (clapotisi?) by then?  (I'm an intermediate knitter, btw.)  How long do they take to knit?  Should I try a different pattern instead?  And how do you pronounce clapotis, anyways?
93  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / photoshop painting on: April 20, 2007 05:12:11 PM
So I know how to paint, and I know how to use photoshop, but I'm having difficulties putting the two together.  I even have a handy dandy, omg I'm so in love with it, graphics tablet.  I just can't seem to get the thing to look the way I want.  Specifically, I can't blend anything worth beans.  here's a pic of my WIP, to give you an idea what I mean.

I'd really appreciate any help or tips you can give me.

94  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / A little bit of rock n roll ::: swap stuff for Rowdy Vamp Raquel on: April 09, 2007 04:42:16 PM
Here's a couple things I made for the significant other swap.  These are for Rowdy Vamp Raquel's boyfriend.

I made him a cuff from Stitch n Bitch Nation.  I modified the motif a little - added the red eyes and hair:

And I also sent him this hat (being modeled by my lovely assistant, the trail mix jar).  It's my own experimental design, with inspiration from the cabled newsboy hat from stitch n bitch nation and Topi from Knitty.

you can see more pics of them here

I'd love to know what you think of these. Cheesy
95  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / what to make with recycled yarn? on: April 01, 2007 01:14:32 AM
I had this cashmere sweater that has always been a bit too big for me and it got a bunch of holes in it from the dry cleaner Angry. So I decided the it was time to recylce the thing and make something new.

I unraveled it and I now have about half a sweaters worth of 2 ply (very thin), cream colored cashmere.  I think I'd like to make it into a lacy shrug or wrap to wear with skirts and dresses.  Does anyone know of any cute patterns that fit the bill?  I'd be totally willing to purchase a pattern, but free is good, too. Smiley

Hi all you fabulous ATC makers!

I've been doing daily drawings on and off for a while now.  The last few weeks or so I've been doing birds (pics on my blog for anyone interested).  After seeing your lovely creations around here, I've decided to take the plunge and go mini.

I've decided to keep adding to this thread.  I'll be adding links here to take you directly to the most recent ones.

97  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / pocket board on: March 22, 2007 07:15:40 PM
I've had this bulletin board forever and it needed a bit of love.

So with a bit of inspiration from Shim and Sons, I turned it into this.

What do you think?

ps. more info on my blog for anyone interested
98  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / My first ever sweater. on: March 15, 2007 07:40:51 PM
I started this in September, but just finished it last night.  It's a modified version of a cropped cardigan from knit 1.

I'd love to know what you think - constructive criticism is definitely welcomed.

(woah, all of a sudden I'm feeling super self conscious about posting pics. Embarrassed  Well, here goes nothing.)

99  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / My skin hates me. Any suggestions? on: March 13, 2007 02:50:20 PM
So lately my skin has decided that it hates me and is scaling a full fledged assault in the form of eczema (on my thighs) and heat rash all over, in addition to my usual dry skin.  It's nothing serious enough to warrant a trip to the dermatologist, but I was wondering if any of you have any tips on dealing with all the itchyness.  Maybe something I could put on it or put in a bath to soak in?

Any ideas would be greatly, greatly appreciated.
100  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Some more birdy drawlings on: March 12, 2007 10:29:46 PM
This past week I drew birds from some of my Dad's photos.  He's really into bird watching.  Anyways, I kinda like how some of these look a little goofy.
