These are so beautiful!

You could add some candy - either store bought or homemade.  That would be a very inexpensive way to fill them up.
1722  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Daily drawings update on: December 10, 2006 01:08:59 PM
Here's a couple sketches from this past week of daily drawings.  You can see the whole series on my blog.  I was trying a bit of foreshortening on the hand.  It's something I have always struggled with.  I would love to hear any constructive criticism you have for me.

They look great.  I've been meaning to try knitty's knucks (similar pattern, but without the mitten part) for a while.

It's beautiful.  She looks like Scarlett Johansson.

hmmm.... I've never heard of the Crayola cutter.  (But I don't have tv so I miss all the commercials for new products.)  I did a quick search, and it looks like it saws through the paper?  I don't know if it would have much of an advantage over an exacto.

I'm really intrigued by the salt idea, claustrophilia.  I'm going to play with that a bit.

hmmm.... here's a couple ideas:

1. something that reminds you of your favorite day or memory together
2. something that makes you laugh - like related to an inside joke that you share
3. something from your favorite song/movie

I've just finished gluing and I've decided to leave them as is (partly because I just realized that I don't have any glitter Roll Eyes).  I made 69 total - cuz I messed up on one and 69 is a good number, anyways Wink

I just added a couple more pics of them on my blog, if you're interested.

Thanks again for all the compliments!

I'm glad that you all like them!!  I think I might add some glitter and call them done. (And if I have left over snowflakes, I'm making gift tags!  Woo-hoo! Grin) Thanks for all the compliments, guys.  You're great!

a little bit of glitter would be a nice touch, but they are in no way plain! i looove the santa one, its so neat. can i try your idea? how did you cut such perfect snowflakes?
i really love them

Sure, you can do it, too.  But I gotta warn you that it takes a while.  I made a stencil out of some thick paper and traced it onto the card I wanted to use.  Then I got out my trusty exacto and cut it out.  I used a hole punch on the scraps for the dots.  It probably took me about 15 min to do each snowflake (I did 4 different patterns, and the time was a bit different for each one.)  So 15 min x 120 snowflakes = I have no life.  Tongue  After doing the first bunch I realized that a die cutter would be so perfect for these, but that's a bit too pricey for me.  It actually wasn't so bad because I gave myself a lot of time for the cutting.  I did most of it while watching movies and stuff over the summer.

I'm glad that you are making lots of other drawings, too.  Thats really good.

But please, don't cry over them.  That's not what I meant at all!  I want you to feel like it's ok to mess up.  It doesn't mean anything about you as a person or even about you as an artist.  Everyone fails sometimes.  That's what happens when you take risks and it's perfectly ok.  In fact, if you did everything perfectly it would mean that you're not pushing yourself.

Try not to be so hard on yourself.  I love seeing your drawings and all the progress you have been making.

ps.  I really love your fashion doodles!
