Thanks! Smiley  It was fun to make!
12  COOKING / Dessert / Super Mario M&M mosaic cake on: June 08, 2010 10:18:42 AM

I made this cake for my son's 4th birthday.  He is obsessed with Mario (pretty much thinks he is Mario).  For the pattern, I used a sprite from Super Mario World.  The "pixels" are M&Ms (blue, yellow, orange, brown,  and some reds), Hershey's Special Dark Pieces (black, maroon, and some reds), Almond Joy Pieces (tan), and generic chocolate gems (white, purple).  The colors are not exactly as they are in the sprite, but about as close as it comes in candy. Smiley

This shot shows the scale a little better.  I also crocheted the logo on his hat, which is so filthy because he wears it 24/7 and won't let me wash it.

Please ignore the sloppy borders and lettering.  The cake didn't travel well. :S  Anyway, I had fun making it, and I hope you enjoy looking at it.

Too cute!  I love how you individualized them for each person.  The leaves as ears on Eco-Monkey are really cute!

20  COOKING / Dessert / Helicopter cake on: November 20, 2009 01:09:36 PM
I made this for my son's second birthday.  He is obsessed with "heli-hopters," so of course, his cake had to be one!  This was also my first experiment with marshmallow fondant.  It was pretty fun overall, although I think I should have added more powdered sugar.  The propellers are made from white chocolate chips, melted in the microwave and dyed yellow.

Edited because I accidentally posted the same picture twice! Smiley
